Hey, I didn't say I believed it.

Cats can be jealous, though. I wouldn't leave one alone with a newborn.
I wouldn't leave dogs or most humans alone with one either.

I'd put money on KK's Savannahs against an intruder. Strider doesn't look like he'd take kindly to strangers rooting around HIS house. I wouldn't leave any animal alone with a newborn, because I'm just paranoid that way. But once my daughter got a little older, she shared a playpen with my mom's Himalayan cat - he never got near her face.

Ok, what am I doing? Reading KK's take on Microsoft's tablet eventuality, recovering from one of those days where I have been in nearly constant motion since my feet hit the floor this morning, and thinking about dinner. Oh, and enjoying a very rare Friday that I don't have to work!

When I was a kid, I remember when German shepherds got labelled as "baby killers". There were 2 or 3 headline stories about them killing and eating kids.
Found out later that the dogs were usually left alone without food and water with an infant or toddler for days by their crackhead owners.
The dogs were always put down.
The owners were always free to breed again.

Actually, I think your average cat would be excellent protection from an intruder.
A face full of angry cat would slow anyone down.
Of course, throwing one on target probably requires some practice.

Mr M is useless at repelling boarders unless they are cats.
If they are dogs he will run away after smashing them in the face. If they are human he does floppy rolls and loves them to death. Only if they are cats does the loud and threatening voice come out.

Just got done mowing the lawn - the nightly storms we've been having have rejuvenated the growing green stuff. Today's humidity was only 50% so decided to get it done before humidity levels rise tomorrow.

I was at a guns rights thingie long ago and one hysterical woman was screaming about banning ALL weapons. this other woman said; "does that include the angry cat I would throw at you?" PERFECT retort!

Our pit bull was very jealous, but not of other animals. My wife and I would hug just to aggravate him. But we'd always end with a group hug.
