Getting seriously tempted!

I've been toying with the idea of buying an ebook reader for quite a while now & must confess The Kindle finally reaching the UK might finally have swayed me. I found this forum when searching for info on the different readers & am really impressed with the level of knowledge & advice available.

Good to have your company, Erinath. Do remember, though, that a heck of a lot depends, not so much on the device, but on the books you're 'allowed' to buy/download and read on it. I still have serious doubts about the value of Kindle outside the US. Other Kindling 'foreigners' may well disagree. Best wishes. Neil

Because the new Kindle will be available in a month, I expect there to be quite a number of announcements in the next two months, regarding both prices and the devices themselves.

A year ago I was in your shoes, and found MR to be an invaluable resource to study my options. I didn't make up my mind until mid-December, and I recommend that you have some patience in order to get the best deal and to determine the device best suited to your needs.

I agree that a Kindle without books worth reading would be pretty pointless. I'm studying philosophy so Project Gutenberg has a great deal of the books I need for free, plus I'm wanting a device I can easily cart journals around on (they tend to be PDFs).

Good advice, though I've been looking around for roughly a year now. In the past it's been how poor PDF support was on most readers, plus them all being out of my price range that's put me off taking the plunge. The new academic year begins in September & I would ideally like to have a reader by then.
