And now it looks like Amazon has reduced the price to just $0.89. Even more of a bargain!

Now Barnes and Noble has jumped on the $0.89 bandwagon.

Cool.

Boomerang is now making some real noise on the Sony ebook site. It has rocketed to the 572nd most popular book in the Humor category, just below "The Geeks Guide to World Domination: Be Afraid, Beautiful People" and right above "The George W. Bush Quiz Book". Two whole spots above Vicki Lawrence's classic "Mama for President: Good Lord, Why Not?" Talk about taking the book world by storm!

And all this against the fact that Sony has yet to follow Amazon, B&N and Kobo in taking the price all the way down to $0.89. Yes, folks are paying the entire $0.99 and there is no stopping them!

Oh, heck, from the heights of the high 500's to the disgraceful depths of the mid 700's in a matter of hours. I think I will spend more time watching the stock market numbers and less checking out my own rankings. It's easier on the tummy.

I just finished the book "Boomerang". I really enjoyed it! It was a very fun read. I also enjoy Tim Dorsey (Serge Storm series) and found this to be a similar type of read. Thank you for making it available on Smashwords.
Do you have other books out at this time?

Hi SaskMouse,

I really appreciate you letting me know you enjoyed Boomerang. I don't have anything else out at this time but have two Works in Progress, including another Ted and Jerry adventure. Hate to say it, but the Ted and Jerry is on a bit of a back burner right now while I finish a stand alone that I am hoping will find a wider audience than Boomerang has been blessed with so far. Of course, the initial plan was Take the World By Storm with the first one and work furiously on the next. But the storm has yet to come! Fairly steady sprinkle, which is great, but no downpour!

Best,
Alan

Just a reminder that Amazon, Barnes and Noble (and Kobo, does anyone here shop at Kobo?) have Boomerang for just $0.89. I have no idea when they might pop the price back up. To $0.99, that is.

Hey, a dime's a dime.

In the midst of a discussion re: DRM vs. DRM-free, how nice to see this from SameOldStory:

Boomerang (a very good book, that is being sold at a great bargain I might add)

Thanks, SOS!

I'll bet you didn't know that Boomerang was one of the first titles on authonomy.com to make the Editor's Desk, did you?

That and about four bucks will get you a nice cappuccino at the local coffee palace.

But just $0.89 will get you a darned fine novel with more than a few smiles, a whole bunch of action, a goodly amount of music (I know, it's a novel, not an iTunes download), and some other stuff I can't tell you 'cause I don't want to spoil it for you.

Check it out!

I want you to know that I bought Boomerang solely on the basis of how entertaining your updates about it here are.

Thank you! I knew I should have gone into advertising instead of cardiovascular microsurgery. Those darned capillaries can get so tangled, I'm telling you.

I do hope you enjoy Boomerang!

Well, I'm in for 89 cents!

So, this started as a limited time offer and seems to have become the regular price. Is that a carefully considered marketing move, or did it just happen? I've lowered the price of my book to $1.24 but only through Saturday, I think. Or is a good book really only worth a buck these days?

What the Market Dictates

Hi J.,

I wish I could claim a carefully considered anything here, but like most writers I'm just trying to figure out this whole business part of the, well, business.

It came down to not what I truly believe Boomerang to be worth, but what the market has so far accepted as a fair price for a work by an unknown author. Free has its attractions, but from what I've read, free books seldom get read, so what's the point of that? I tried $4.99 for a short time, thinking that undervaluing ones work leads others to pass it by. I am forever grateful to the folks who shelled out the five bucks and I hope they don't feel cheated, that they received their money's worth or better, but the numbers were very small. So I'm sticking with the under a buck price until the market dictates I'm an idiot not to change. Short term offers just make me skittish anymore.

And thank you very much for investing your dollar. I hope you enjoy my book.

Alan

P.S. I assume from your "device" and from the fact that Boomerang shot from the bottom to the top of Kobo's bestseller list of books that come up with the search term of "boomerang", that that is where you got your copy. I would love to hear what you think of the formatting and general readability of Boomerang on your Kobo ereader.

A great big Thank You to all the mobileread members who helped make July the best month yet for Boomerang.

Hey, I even ran out of copies for folks who ordered autographed paperbacks and had to order more. That hasn't happened in a while!

G'Day Alan,
Just purchased Boomerang off Kobobooks. I think your pricing philosophy is spot on. At a buck, it makes an easy impulse buy, at $5, I wouldn't have hit the purchase button :-). Looking forward to getting to this one. Thanks for the updates and the cool low price!

cheers
