Yes, I have some tools for metadata manipulation (from quickpdftools.com). What testing procedure do you have in mind, and what outcome is it testing for?

Thanks. I can handle the weird metadata in one file. My hope is to help Calibre devs fix the bug.

calibre uses a third party library called podofo to set metadata in PDF files. You could file a bug report with them, if you are interested in pursuing the issue.

But portofolio PDFs are sufficiently uncommon that I doubt it would get fixed quickly.

I was able to reproduce this in podofo browser, and filed it in their tracker.

Thanks! I seldom see portfolios, so whatever your problem is, if they fix it, it will fix problems I may run into, too. Thanks for pursuing it - you've likely helped other Calibre users.

Good news: Dominik thinks he has fixed this bug. He writes

"I commited a bug fix to SVN. Could you please check if this solves your
problem?
Thanks for reporting this issue. It discovered a really big problem in
PoDoFo as quite often always the oldest trailer info was used instead of
using the most recent trailer information.

As soon as this fix is a bit tested I would like to release a 0.8.2 bug
fix release."

Bad news: neither he nor I have a Win32 build environment, so I can't test whether the bug is fixed.

If anyone here wants to try to build a podofobrowser, let me know! If not, we might be waiting for a while.

PoDoFo 0.8.2 is out. However, it's a source-only release, so I haven't tested whether the bug described above is fixed.
