I quite often offer books free here at MR (I don't make a big deal of it -- usually just when a particular book is revelant to a thread or a newcomer is having trouble buying contemporary work). I've just checked my MobileRead files and, of the dozens of MR pals I've sent BeWrite Books ebooks out to, every one has asked for ePub format. Not a single request for Mobi or PDF. Odd when you think how popular Kindle, with its exclusive use of Mobi, seems to be here, and that iPad and some other devices handle PDF pretty well. Cheers. Neil

I generally pick epub because it's easy to put into another format, such as mobipocket. I've never read one epub book And I prefer my PDF made up specifically for my Mini.

The only reason to get Mobi is if you buy from Amazon, other than that ePub is the way to go, IMHO....

Mobi is only the preffered format on Kindle devices and pretty much all the rest use epub - your comment doesn't make any sense to me.

There is a special mobi tag for page breaks. So, just poorly formatted .mobi files.

Read it a while ago, I'll have to go dig up a link again. It didn't apply to the Kindle format, which technically is still Mobi. But support for the "regular" Mobipocket (non-kindle) was being done away with, as far as I knew.
