I for one very much like the new USB-as-mass-storage function. It removes the need for specialized tools like libprs500 and allows easier synchronizations for us in the non-windows world.

I'd expect a lot of second hand ones to be popping up on e-bay soon.

Have you looked at Tiger Direct or BH photo? I don't know if they still have 500's in stock at this point ....

The reason to not go with B&H is that they don't have the 505. Tiger Direct doesn't have the 505 either.
