If you post a picture of the "old" unknown we might find what it is.

I also take souvenirs, alas not from places as fascinating as the Faeroe islands. I give them the name of the people or places where I got them. so I have Floriano that contains a piece of the soul of my friend, it is a periwinkle and a Madame Garbaille tamaia that I am reproducing inside since 10 years. Once in a while I put some babies outside and they like it enormously. I got her from the Landes in SW France. Plus others.

This one throw seeds with a lot of noise. I have it in the garden and it should repell moles. Catapultia.

I actually have been thinking that my mystery plant 2 may belong to the Euphorbia family - but it's not this one. I have some photos, will dig them out tomorrow. It's very unusual looking.

You'd think, but it's still pretty small. I don't know if it's that the variety I have doesn't grow that big or what. I've seen some enormous ones, but they're all the kind with the jagged leaves, mine has smooth leaves and tends to bloom at Thanksgiving and Easter more than Xmas.

Well, the one Beppe suggests is an Euphorbia (latin name for a plant family). Just thought it was an interestesting coincidence that I suspected my plant of belonging to the same family, too.

Until recently, Rose bushes but we had them pulled now that the kid is playing in the backyard a lot these days. Last thing I need is for him to fall into a bed of thorns.

Yes the iPod will be a useful addition cos the correct songs will enhance their growth; and I am sure they will be grateful for the opportunity to listen to an audio version of "The Triffids" ....
