My sister clings to her beliefs.
She is on the verge of a breakdown.
He did the same thing to his first wife.
Her marriage counselor warned her that this guy is nuts.
So did his own brother.
I can fix it. Fark the law. Fark jail time.
I am justified.
The only thing that stops me?
My sister's stupid, antisurvival beliefs.
I love her so much.
But she is a total doormat.

You can't break the law, but you can do everything short of it assuming you want to get involved. Contact the authorities, if you, she have not already, get it on record. Talk to the guy and tell him what the situation is and what's going to happen if he doesn't clear out, make sure the authorities are involved and aware.....

That's sad. I'll bet every other aspect of the creep's life is in turmoil as well. He has earned every nasty thing that comes his way. I hope your sister has learned from this experience and doesn't ever make the mistake of marrying someone like him again. What a jerk. Many mental problems (but by no means all or even most) stem from people being too self-centered and uncaring about anyone but their self; this seems to define this scumbag to a "T". I'll bet he sits around whining about why everyone is against him.

I had a conversation some years ago with a co-worker at a bank I once worked for. He expressed concern about promotion practices, suspecting an "old boy network".

I said "Pretend you're an SVP with a slot open for a VP reporting to you. There are three applicants. All of them are equally qualified on paper. One is someone you know and like, and have worked with before. Which one will you give preference to? All other things equal, you'll pick the guy you know..." "I didn't think of it like that. The problems arise when preference is given to someone less qualified because of a personal relationship with the manager. It's not an easy thing to prevent, because many enterprises don't have good mechanisms in place to measure performance, and you get cases like your guy who slept through the night shift and never lifted a finger to help anyone. Someone should have noticed his habits, with his next position not being a return to the day shift and a temporary stay in the boss's chair, but rather a forced more to another employer.

But meanwhile, personal relationships with co-workers are as critical as the ability to perform the job. You are working with others towards a common goal, and must be able to do so effectively. If you're perceived as stand-offish, you are unlikely to be promoted to a supervisory position.

we got some stuff sorted out, but my daughter who has been going through some weird crap of her own the last few years informed everyone that she didn't want to have anything to do with me, and the reasons she used left all with jaws hanging open all around going WTF!?

the "your Dad is actively dying" call from the hospice nurse came during the meeting leaving many issues still open.

If she's the boss, more drastic measures are called for. I could suggest some of the successful ones I've used in the past, but I don't want to open myself up to legal action, as they weren't always exactly within the bounds of what the law considers kosher.

hey! if anyone remembers it was right about this time last year when I told my co-workers and the powers that be; "you can't run the air-conditioning and leave the door open to the telephone exchange or you will blow up the rectifier that runs the telephone exchange!" rectifier blows up, internet goes down, telephone exchange only runs on emergency basis, KK gets canned....

There doesn't seem to be more you can do except be there for her and watch her back. I hope the issue is resolved soon. If I said what I really felt about what he truly needs, I'd be banned; besides, it isn't legal.

you are correct, too many have been injured in spite of protection orders. however... she is putting her children at risk. if she will not take measures to protect them, the choice may be taken from her. you need to get that through to her.

I just made an unsuccessful search of the Internet for instructions of how to replace the cap on a tube of toothpaste. I've tried telling my son to do it, but he never does, so I figured maybe he doesn't know how. I was hoping a helpful chart with pictorial diagrams posted in the bathroom might help, but I can't find one.

He's 34.

Does anyone know where such a chart could be found? Is there a book on toothpaste use for dummies?
