I've lost my Kindle!!!!! OMG!!!!!

I've spent the last hour or so tearing the house apart, going through the truck. called the place I had lunch, called the facility Dad is at.... I can't find it!!!!!!!!

I gave one of my K1's to my son, loaned the other to my physical therapists daughter. I can't get through the next 2 months being here and traveling to Mexico without a Kindle!!!! DAMNIT!!!!!
When it rains it pours! It certainly hasn't been easy being you lately. I hope your father improves and you find your Kindle.

On another topic, perhaps your state should change it's name to Washington, G.C. (Washington Clean & Green). It certainly is a wonderful place to live.

Most of the folks I met in the Olympic Peninsula seem friendly and honest. If you last it, assuming you have some contact info they can see, I'm willing to bet you get it back. If you lost it in a Virginia city on the East Coast, your chances would be more iffy, unless you checked the pawn shops.

I'll rest easier, but this weekend will be a stress ball
Or you'll have two as desired!

I've thought about selling my Sony900 but at this point (with price drops etc) I'll just keep it or give it away to family/friends. I have the Sony 505 which I use primarily, a K2 and the 900...always good to have three backups I say.

I want a color wireless tablet capable of reading outdoors....but it's not here yet....

(No Yvan the iPad is not it )

I wouldn't dare to presume....

Some of the future Android devices seem promising. But reading in sunshine? It signifies a big compromise in battery consumption and so does using a full OS. But to each his own. I would like any other device as long as it has a pinch zoom. That, I will not compromise on.

I know, but had to tweak you. We have fun don't we?

You are definitely right about the trade-offs and compromises. I really don't expect color e-ink to work out....I think the newer or different technologies will bypass it. OLEDs and other stuff.

Main thing I want is the tablet format that works wirelessly and is open and compatible with my existing applications, data, etc. And has a reasonable battery life -- 6 to 10 hours...

One can hope, right?

P.S. I love that pinch zoom thing on my iPhone.

I have discovered something at which both the Nook and the Sony PSR-600 blow away the Kindle, and that's reading PDFs. Both the Kindle and the Sony can enlarge the page, but moving the page around on the screen each time you come to the end of a line is a PP way to read a document. But in addition, the Sony can reflow the text itself, something the Kindle can't do; so by keeping the default page size and changing the font, you can easily read PDFs by using only the page-turning capabilities. The Nook automatically reflows the text, but the formatting isn't quite as good as on the Sony, because the Nook doesn't automatically resize the images; thus getting to the same place in the document using only page turns takes longer.

Imagine that! Something even the Nook does better than a Kindle!

You shouldn't. I imagine the 900 handles them even better than the 600.

PDF are ideal on a tablet and a pinch zoom does wonders.

I've taken a few magazine subscriptions on Zinio and they've become my second biggest use on the tablet. I've heard that they are a special enhanced PDF. You just can't imagine what it is to zoom on the details in a National Geographic photograph! Beats paper anytime...

Oh, although Apple castrated the iPad, third party apps render wireless communication feasible. Dropbox, StreamToMe, Goodreader and Air Sharing do wonders to circumvent the imposed drawbacks.
If I want to listen to music or watch a movie, I don't even have to download them. As long as the PC is on or that I have to leave the network... But then there's Dropbox.

If only it could be used WITHOUT the friggin' PC!

Someday maybe?
BTW There's a rumor that gen two will be 7 inch instead of 10.
