Recluse, I don't understand. I understand, I think, somewhat, empathise with, the rest of your post...that feeling of being, perhaps?...dismissable and compartmentalised? (For me, I sometimes just feel like The Tamed Fool)?

I sometimes feel that need to move away...for me, at the moment, with other external pressures and the tides of my own personal psychological morphology, I definitely feel that need to "withdraw" back into the freedom of my own private universe...to chuck it all in...to disconnect, from MR; from most everything.

So perhaps I do understand, but don't realise it?

I don't really know.

I don't want you to go though. Selfishly, it is true...while contradicting myself with a possible understanding of the need. I guess that I contrast my introvert's need to withdraw with the knowledge that MR itself is often a place I recluse myself to rather than from; that MR contains a comfortable niche into which I can squeeze my hermitage with mostly minimal discomfort. On the other hand, that discomfort, at times...

My favourite quote is by Oscar Wilde: "Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live". I realise I am partly doing this. But I do also wish that a niche at MR could be for you at least an occasional holiday from your own private universe; that if you do go, that it is not permanent.

I'll wish good bye, but I don't feel good about it. Just sad. I'd prefer to say "See ya". I hope I do.

We have deaths here annually due to West Nile Virus which is carried by mosquitos.

The UK is very fortunate - our biting/stinging insects are basically just nuisances - unless you happen to have an allergy to, say, bee stings.

I am perplexed as well.

I admit I can't keep up with ALL the posts around here, but I've neither seen nor heard of any cyberbullies on this forum whipping you down, recluse. I hope, at worst, it's just misunderstanding taking place.

If not, I hope you realize that you have more friends here than those who may not be.

If you don't believe that with just the spoken (written) word from us all, then just take a look at your karma.

Karma is given by members to those who they deem helpful, interesting, funny, or otherwise contribute something to a discussion, thread or change their day for the better in some way.

Of all the 72,000 plus MR members, I've noticed NO ONE who has as high a post to karma ratio than you do, or karma to length of membership ratio, or just plain high karma number. However you look at it, it appears that your fellow members have been letting you know that your participation and interaction is enjoyed and appreciated.

How can you doubt all of that and allow a bully or two to drive you away? Find that "Ignore Member/Thread" button, click, and be done with them.

But don't be done with the rest of us.
