Did you read Sheepfarmers Daughter? I am liking it so far. Yes, you can tell it is a first book of a trilogy because 1/2 way in the story is still building up.

I just devoured "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins, which I picked up from the library. Going back to the library tomorrow after work to pick up the second, "Catching Fire." I think the third comes out at the end of August, which is good, since I hate waiting

LOL
Okay okay...sheesh! I'll follow your lead and vote accordingly IF you promise that whatever you nominate will be a good read. Hopefully August will be a good month for the book club.

I bought "Easily Amused" in the Kindle store from the "humor" category. It turned out to be a romantic comedy, but I'm enjoying it anyway.

Hopefully up to the usual standard.
Indeed it is. A good issue. I especially liked ‘Pupa’, ‘Flotsam’ and ‘Eight Miles’.

Next, Asimov's SF, August 2010 by Dell Magazines.

(& thanks to Quake1028 for the idea of including the cover image)

I hope you guys will not start a fad. At least yours is a reasonable size, but frankly, I wouldn't enjoy a thread filled with cover images, personally

I think it's a question of balance. I certainly wouldn't want a thread just of cover images — I like to hear what people have thought (at least in brief) about what they're read.

I also think it's important to include the title and author in the text - not to just rely on the cover image. Some people can only read the text, not see the images. The images ought to be a supplement to the message, not a substitute.

I'm working my way, enjoyably, through Gullivers Travels - a re-read this time in electronic version;

and Arthur Conan Doyles A Study in Scarlet a first timer for me and yes I'm getting into it...

A sub-par issue. I liked the novelettes ‘Slow Boat’ and ‘Warning Label’ (although Warning Label's ending seemed a bit weak).

I wasn't fond of the short story ‘The Battle of Little Big Science’ (I just couldn't believe it, and if it was meant to be humorous, I didn't find it so). I didn't think the novelette ‘The Witch, The Tinman, The Flies’ was actually science fiction.

Next: F&SF, July-August 2010 by Spilogate, Inc. F&SF has moved to six bigger issues a year - falling circulation and rising postage costs. Perhaps ebooks will save the magazines, if they actually start offering direct ebook subscriptions.

Have to agree with both of you!

Images also just take unnecessary band width adding nothing whatsoever to the the value of the posters comments / views of a particular book - which is the main point of this thread I thought.

The Princess Bride is a great book! Actually, I voted for The Sheepfarmer's Daughter mainly because I had read all of the books up for vote this month save that one and one other, and I don't like to vote for things I've already read. And now I'm re-reading American Gods, go figure.
