Yes, almost always, as far as composition, exposure, depth of field.....assuming there is time, wildlife doesn't always allow it. I do shoot handheld most of the time as opposed to setting up with a tripod etc.

In fact here are two shots I took at different Depth of Field to see how they would work.

Will this mean your gonna pester at marigolds instead of sunflowers?

I like working compositions too, it means everything.

You old softie! You've been spending some true quality time with the little girl haven't you?
I agree totally about dandelions - my lawn sports a fine crop every year!

The majority of the "normal" people and the world could care less, in my opinion.

That is why more people watch tv than read or go to the park.
Agreed on most but you have to admit that going out in certain areas becomes dangerous at certain ages.

You tend to keep to yourself out of fear and search for companionship with a little more...culture than... Britney Spears!

I'ed normally jump in with a smartass remark at this point, about how h_t needs to have his sap drained, but oddly enough, he's right. Go figure.

It is a shame when innocence dies.
It's a sin how we have turned the world into a place where it has to for the children to survive.

I really want to say something nasty and literally bursting with common sense on that subject, but those thoughts don't fly well here. I don't need the grief because my heart can't and won't lie to appease the overly sensitive freak huggers.

I agree with you also. I think it is a circle though.

I think there is an age of innocence, a loss of innocence and a time when you do not care about the little things, and then as you get older you look back and return to the wonderful little things that you havent appreciated for a while.

I can only go off of my own experiences though.

The only times in my life that I ever stared at a flower was as a child and as an older man.

Put it that way and I've never been innocent

I don't remember an age of innocence. I remember times as a child when I was as down in the dumps as I've ever been in my adult life. One particularly miserable day I remember an adult telling me that I didn't know what troubles were and wouldn't know real pain until I was grown. The scene is still vivid in my memory. I swore then and there that I would never forget that children can feel pain.

Then again, my childhood probably wasn't typical. My best friend and I around the age of five would build "suicide machines" that consisted of the largest pile of rubble we could scrounge and balancing it on one pole like some huge sinister animal trap. Then we'd get in and pull away the stick to end it all. It never came close to working, and I'm not so sure we actually wanted it to, but this was how we spent many an afternoon. Looking back, I suppose we weren't much like the average five-year-old.

I can't really remember an age of innocence either, but certainly an age of naivety (which I still have plenty of). Grew up on a farm and from the beginning there was always an air of stress in would we make it through another year....all I wanted was out! I hated every minute of farm life and wanted to be a scientist, never felt like I fit in.....then my mother's attempt at suicide when I was a teen, the subsequent angry divorce ....sometimes I think I was never really a child.

There were good times though and now I'd love to live away from the city in a farmhouse (without the farming mind you ).

Then we found Flash Gordon and spent most of our time along with my niece pretending to be that famous trio of Flash, Dale Arden, and Dr. Zarkov. I would be Flash. My niece always made my friend be "the girl" because she insisted on being Dr. Zarkov, and she was stronger than him

At that age, my niece and I wanted to be actors. She actually had a taste of that in recent years taking some small roles in soaps and TV dramas, among other things.

Now an age of naivety I can relate to. I still remember the time as a young teenager, probably around thirteen, the phone rang in a phone booth and out of curiosity I answered. It was some girl on the other end who was all hot and bothered and full of explicit sex talk. Seductively, she asked me "How much you got?" (wink-wink!). I told her about 75 cents in quarters.

Yeah, I was very naive once, and in many ways, still am.
