yeah, an external HD is on the list. well I DO have Vista, apparently I am missing the service packs. wonder why I was never prompted to download them?

If you've got some hidden file hanging around out there this will make it stick out like a sort thumb.

oh cool! after I download servicepack, get office put back on, figure out how I am going to get out from under the kittehs and go pee, I'll check it out!

grrrrr! first I did 64 instead of 32 for Service Pack 2 (couldn't find Service Pack1). wrong speed, so I had to do it all over again. it's installed. now I have to install Service Pack 1 with their helpful little link. no, that's fine. I didn't have anything better to do today

when you get everything done, grab a copy of acronis true image, snap shot your C: drive and don't bother the next time

This is sitting on my computer desk, waiting to be installed and run. After I had so much trouble with a trojan last winter, I wanted to be able to re-install a full image of my computer, so I wouldn't have to reauthorize all my software - again!

? was me wondering, why does your office need the exercise in traveling before getting installed, but i guess you have posted somewhere, that you are going to travel to new mexico.

btw, if the system still won't work (the SP1 install and the office i mean) and you know someone good at such things, you could use TeamViewer - very nifty little program allowing remote computing; the person on the other side will "be you" , seeing your desktop, files, moving your mouse, etc. Yeah, it is as if he/she sits in front the pc, so don't use it, unless you really trust the person on the other side.

I used to use such things at work all of the time. my niece is at my folks and is apparently quite the computer whiz so I will have her take a whack at it! ;o)

yes, I am going to New MExico as my Dad is being moved into hospice tomorrow ;o(
