can't add any more books to my reader (505)

I'm having a hard time adding any sort of boo to my reader (or rather the 8GB SDHC car in it)
I'm using calibre to manage it, and so far it worked properly, but suddenly, the reader doesn't recognize any more book I add. If I delete old ones from the reader, it does recognize that these are missing, but anything new it doesn't.
Adding the lrf files to the card manually also doesn't work.

There is currently only one way for me to add new books:
1. copy the whole content from the SD card to my hard drive
2. format the SD card, deleting everything on it.
3. copy the whole content back to the card, except the calibre files and the Sony Reader folder

THEN the reader does recognize all files, but this really nerve wrecking if I just want to add one more book.

I hope this problem is known to anyone (and the solution as well )

EDIT:

I now found out, that I don't have this problem when I transfer the books to the internal space of the reader instead of the SD card. But that won't do for me.

It sounds as if you're running up against the entry limit in your root directory which happens often with SD cards because companies send them out formatted as FAT16. Format the card using FAT32 and you should be fine.

As I wrote in my first poste, the only way for me to get any new material on the card is to format in every time. So I did format it in FAT32 quite often.
Haven't tried another SD card yet, because I don't own one, I ordered this one just for my reader.
