THE GROVE for $.99

UPDATE:

Sorry everyone, but I had to pull The Grove off Smashwords. You can still find it on Amazon for the Kindle, but for now that's the only format.

I should have more news next week, so stay tuned...

-----------

Hi everyone

I just wanted to let everybody know that my novel, THE GROVE, is available for the Kindle on AMAZON for $.99

Here's a quick blurb and description if you're interested.

___

"Spare and evocative as a cornfield in autumn, The Grove marks the arrival of a haunting, powerful new voice in contemporary fiction. John Rector writes with deceptive grace, spinning out irresistible prose with a dark pulse between every line. This is psychological suspense at its most seductive. I loved it."

-Sean Doolittle, award-winning author of Dirt, Burn, Rain Dogs, The Cleanup, and Safer

--

The last time farmer Dexter McCray went off his medication, someone wound up dead. So, after waking from an alcoholic blackout to discover his tractor stuck in a ditch and the body of a teenage girl in the cottonwood grove bordering his cornfield, things look worryingly familiar.

With no alibi and a creeping suspicion that he might indeed be guilty, Dexter decides to investigate the crime himself. He can’t tell anybody. Not his friend, the sheriff, who keeps offering to help him winch his tractor out of the ditch. Nor his estranged wife, whose love he’s desperate to win back. And certainly not the Tollivers, his redneck neighbors.

Fortunately, Dexter’s not entirely alone. He has some help.

In the shape of the dead girl herself.

My first published novel, THE COLD KISS, will be out next summer from Tor books, so if you like THE GROVE and want to read more, please go to my blog and sign my mailing list so I can send you a reminder once the new book is released.

Here's the link:

Thanks everyone. I hope you enjoy THE GROVE.

Congratulations! However, I -- along with much of the ebook reading world -- aren't able to love or hate your book, or more importantly to you, aren't able to read (buy) your book. We don't own Kindles and Amazon ebooks can't be read on our devices.

I bought this for one main reason:

FINALLY, a post by someone who admits to being the author of the book. Not just a spammy shill, but the OP who ACTUALLY TELLS US THAT HE IS THE AUTHOR OF THE BOOK.

BRAVO!

I look forward to reading this horror/psychological novel.

Thank you for your post and for what looks to be a very good book.

Don

P.S.: Let me welcome you to MobileRead. There's a lot of fun craziness here and a lot of Forums here that one may choose.

P.P.S.: I just bought your book!

Thanks Dr. Drib. I hope you like it.

rhadin - Good point, thank you.

I took your advice and made THE GROVE available on Smashwords. Now you can download it as a .mobi, ePub, PDF, RTF, LRF, PDB, or .text file.

I hope one of these works.

Quit! Quit! I have too many good books queued up to read. I could be cut off from bookstores, post offices, and download sites and would *still* have enough books on hand to keep me busy for 4 years -- and that's at a pace of ~140 books per year!

OK. I couldn't resist. Bought this one today, but it's going to have to wait for a while -- I need to catch up with the books I owe to members of my book-swapping group.
