Kobo firmware 4.38.23648

At this time, Kobo is starting to roll out firmware 4.38.23648 for the Libra 2. It shows as available for the Libra 2 on Patrick Gaskin's Kobo Firmware Downloads

The two items I show for the update are:
  • Addresses an issue that prevented credit card information from being added or updated on your eReader when completing purchases
  • Improves stability of Kobo Libra 2's connection to Kobo Remote

At least two people that I know of. Both report the Kobo Remote is much improved with this firmware.

Downloading it as we speak. I got one during the saw last month. I don't use the Kobo Remote with it, since it has buttons.

The connection with the Kobo Remote is greatly improved. The bleu light on the back of the remote doesn't blink, so the connection is stable.

Enabling Bluetooth still also enables Wifi.

I'm interested to know if stability with non-Kobo Remotes (e.g., the 8BitDo) is also improved.

The best way to find out is to try it.

As Jon said, the best way to experiment and see if your non-Kobo remote is more stable. OTOH, since it is not a Kobo device, to me, it's a coin toss.

My 8bitdo Micro was never unstable with my Libra 2. The issue was the wifi turning on with the bluetooth and the need to re-pair the 8bitdo every time I used it. The wifi problem, Kobo fixed it with the previous update. After this update, the 8bitdo still needs to be in pairing mode to connect, and I stll need to manually connect. The Libra 2 does not save the the device either, unlike my Clara BW. However, once connected, the 8bitdo works just fine.

I have installed it on my Libra 2.
Connection to the Kobo remote is indeed stable now, it just keeps working and registers all button presses.
Battery drain still seems to be there though.
