Errors in Startup of Calibri

I have been using Calibri for several years. I have been on 9.3.0 and was editing some metadata on some items in my library. During this process, I had occasion to shut down Calibri and restart it soon after. I got a message stating, "There were errors during startup. Some functions of Calibri may not function" or something very similar. Here is the error log the notice provided:

calibre, version 9.3.1
ERROR: Startup error: There was an error during calibre startup. Parts of calibre may not function. Click "Show details" to learn more.

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "calibre\gui2\main.py", line 307, in initialize_db_stage2
File "calibre\gui2\main.py", line 250, in start_gui
File "calibre\gui2\ui.py", line 367, in initialize
File "calibre\gui2\tag_browser\ui.py", line 136, in init_tag_browser_mixin
File "calibre\gui2\tag_browser\view.py", line 417, in set_database
File "calibre\gui2\tag_browser\model.py", line 518, in set_database
File "calibre\db\cache.py", line 89, in call_func_with_lock
File "calibre\db\cache.py", line 1170, in set_pref
File "calibre\db\backend.py", line 168, in set
File "calibre\db\backend.py", line 153, in __setitem__
apsw.ConnectionClosedError: The connection has been closed

I am accessing the same database from two instances of Cailbri on separate machines on the same network (not at the same time, of course). Trying to startup Cailbri on the other machine caused the same error.

I have restarted the machine. I ran the repair function on the 9.3.0 installer. I installed the new version 9.3.1. All with the same result.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

There's your problem, as stated in the FAQ you should not do that https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq...rked-drive-nas

Yes, it can work for a while (even a long time), and only one client at a time is certainly less risky, but one day it may break anyway - other processes that just calibre might be accessing the file.

To fix your database, I suggest using calibre's repair function on a local copy on just one machine and see if it works. Otherwise, restoring from a backup is probably your best bet.

@jprobibs the correct name is calibre, not calibri. With the incorrect name, a search will fail.
