Libre Color and KOReader, I’m confused

Looking to buy a Kobo and settled on the Libre Color. But I need it to be able to browse my Calibre library over the internet (not just local network). Does the Libre have a browser?
I see KOReader supports OPDS so I thought “perfect”, but when I try to sort out the details, it describes using WiFi to connect to the library, but it didn’t sound like I can enter a URL with username/password to browse the library.

Any advice or clarifications? Thanks.

The Libra has a browser (More -> Beta Features). You can also setup sync with something like Calibre-Web (it's a web interface that sits on top of a Calibre database). It basically hijacks the Kobo sync features to sync with your library in a way that feels the same as books bought from Kobo.

Thank you. With a browser, it should work like my iPad: connect, browse, download, read.

I’m hoping KOReader will eliminate the logging in (once setup). I’ll post a question for that elsewhere.

There is absolutely nothing at all wrong with a proper log in. I've has a Kobo account since Sony moved to Kobo for ePub and I've had a logged in Kobo the end of November 2014.

I don't know if you can install KOReader without being logged in.

You don't need to be logged in to install KOReader. You can install KOReader using the one-click install package and then over WiFi you can install the latest daily or the latest stable (if that's not it).

After reading more in the KOReader forums, it sounds like KOR does not support OPDS content severs with username/passwords, so I’ll not be installing it. I will just use the (beta) browser included in the Libra.

I use koreader with opds that needs a login and that works perfectly fine. set password and username once and it is stored afterwards.

I think it was added this year so you might found older posts when it was not availible.

Thanks Alva! Yes, I noticed the posts were older, but couldn't find anything on that topic newer than about 2022. When I get home (wintering in Cabo) next month, I'll give KOR a spin on my Pixel Tablet and check it out. Much appreciated.

I wish people would STOP using image hosts and just attach the images. Especially when it's done wrong and the images don't display. And eventually, the images will expire and no longer be able to be displayed so if they need to be seen, they won't be.

I would have done that but i did not see how. When i clicked the Image icon there is no upload dialog, it just asked for a link.

Could you please tell me how so I can do better in the future?

You need to be in advanced mode. If you are not, there's a button for it. Scroll down past the submit reply button. click Manage Attachments. Attach the image. Put the cursor in the message where you want the image thumbnail. In the toolbar, click the paperclip and select the image you want to show.

It's that easy. And the images won't expire or not show up. Not all sites allow linking to a another site. So not all images will work with the [img] tag.
