Kobo not updating its firmware beyond the version 4.26
Hello my dudes. I hope all is well.
I had to change the device's internal micro SD and replaced it with a Kingston 8GB. So I uploaded an image of firmware version 2.4 kindly provided by a forum user. So far so good. The problem happened when I tried to update the firmware. I tested all the newer ones manually and the only one that the device accepted was version 4.26 (the others bricked the device needing to do a hard reset). Does anyone have an idea what could be happening? Thanks. |

Until someone more knowledgeable comes along...
That looks like a 90degree rotation telling you not to cycle power while it is doing something (repeated vertically). Are you sure you have the right firmware for your model? |

I've seen that image and sometimes a frightening long upgrade, but it came OK. Make sure well charged and cable USB disconnected. |

Interesting! I gave up after an hour. I will try to leave it overnight and I’ll share the results tomorrow!

Kobo Aura HD boots but touch is completely unresponsive after firmware restore
I have a Kobo Aura HD that developed an issue with the original system. To try to fix it, I opened the device, replaced the internal microSD card, and flashed a firmware image that was provided to me from this site.
The image used was Kobo_N204B_Aura_HD. The device boots normally, the e-ink screen displays a perfect image, and it reaches the language selection screen, however the touch does not respond at all. Some important points: The screen works normally (perfect image, no artifacts) The issue is exclusively with the touch, completely non-responsive The Kobo was working normally before the software issue After replacing the microSD and installing the firmware, the touch has never responded I have already considered poor contact, but it does not appear to be the digitizer (touch) flat cable, which is the thinner one My main questions are: Is this symptom (image OK, touch completely dead) typical of incompatible firmware on the Aura HD? Can anyone confirm which .img image is the correct one specifically for the Kobo Aura HD (N204B / dragon)? Is there any additional test I can perform to reliably distinguish between a firmware issue and a physical digitizer failure? Is there any known way to fix this issue? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. |
