What about people who make beautiful art out of carving up books? like this site or this one?

is the Crafty Creations use of the Lemony Snickett books more cringe-worthy because it's such a hack-and-slash use of the books?

Thanks for posting that link, I stay in Scotland and hadn't even heard about this. They are amazing. Must be a pretty special person behind that story.

fishgirl;

I would think that the whole purpose of "re-purposing" is to make use of things, that
you no longer wish to use as they were originally intended. It would not need to be
restricted to things that can no longer do their original function, just that you will not
be using them that way anymore.

As to using new or lightly used looking books, if the idea is to create a concealed space
that would be the kind that you would want.

Luck;
Ken

I hereby give everyone permission to print out my free book, hollow it out, and keep something important in it. I won't even be offended if you don't read it first.

The abhorrence with which book burning or other destruction is regarded has nothing to do with books per sec, it has to do with what is contained in those books. It has to do with censorship and lost knowledge.

There are many books for which I would cheerfully provide gasoline and a match. Recently that would include many topping the New York Times best seller lists.

I see nothing wrong with that video, other than asking: "How does she get the lid back on that box?"
