1. The digitizer is not calibrated perfectly over the whole surface of the page. The same thing is valid in Neoreader 2. I think the software or the hardware have some limitations to be solved, and all Boox Max and Max Carta devices (I owned a Boox Max before buying Max Carta, so I remember) experience this issue. More specifically there are parts of the page where there is some distance between the stylus's sharp edge and and the actual point or line on the "paper". 2. Nevertheless the distance between the digitiser and the drawn line is never larger than 2.5 or 3 mm (i.e. a quarter of a centimeter). 3. What you showed us on youtube is an unusually large deviation (o,5 cm or more) though. Besides, as you made straight lines, the screen registered some graph-like deviations. That is definitely not right. My first Onyx e-reader was actually a M96. There were the same deviations from the digitiser edge as in the Max e-readers on the lower and upper parts of the page in Neoreader (at that time Neoreader 2 did not exist), but nothing like you registered on your video. My advice for you is to contact Booxtor over the issue. Write him (or to whoever vendor you have bought the e-reader from) and upload the youtube movie in the e-mail: https://ereader-store.de/en/contact-us. If you bought your Max Carta from him, you got good chances to get a replacement if the issue cannot be solved via some update. I guess your device is defective, but I'm not a specialist. Same advice for @ Markeris. The best thing is to do a short movie like Gianluca to prove you have the same issue and send it to your vendor. Even if Booxtor is not your vendor and thus cannot replace your device, he can directly signal the issue to the Onyx team of engineers and you might get some help. |

Does anyone know the exact purpose of the side button on the stylus? In the User Manual I find nothing about it.
One additional wish for this device: Fast switching between last book and last note. When I read a book (math/physics/engineering) I need to have also a note-application open for doing calculations. At the moment the switching is not that bad, but I wished there would be an even faster way. And I wished I could use it as a second monitor. It would be great to have an app for that. I would need this for coding. cipri Last edited by ccipri; 05-23-2017 at 02:55 AM. |

The side button activates the writing function in Neoreader2.
For using Max Carta as a monitor there is already a dedicated thread: "Onyx Boox as monitor". It seems like there is some solution available. Nevertheless it might have some limitations. See what those interested wrote about it there. |

If I push the buttons for turning pages when using the system file browser it only change the volume. I couldn't find a way to navigate with the hardware buttons in folders without using the pen. Any hint for a solution is appreciated!

As you noticed, buttons have 2 functions: turning pages and changing volume. you can switch from one to another clicking with pen on the third icon from right on the top-right of android bar. it appears as 2-arrow icon or +/- icon according to the selected function.

Has anyone tried running OneNote on the Max Carta?

Made my account to say this -
I'm eyeing 13 inch e-readers these days. When you get yours, please let us know how it works with OneNote and the Kindle app |

Just got mine yesterday, some quick note:
As some of you have mentioned, Onenote, Google Keep, Google Doc doesn't work with the device (at least with android 4.0.4) haven't looked into updating to android 4.4 yet. The background is actually not as white as I would like it to be, but doesn't really interfere with the reading. Stylus is surprisingly responsive, and I've gotten used to it pretty quickly, need to improve my hand writing if I want to take good notes though... A problem I ran into is that even though I set the device to be unlocked by pattern (tried pin, password, as well), the power button unlocks the device directly and doesn't trigger security check (bypasses the password), has anyone run into this issue? |

If you have the time and inclination, could you check if you can get Evernote and some other word processor that support .doc formats? |

Just tested it out. Yep, evernote works. I don't own a bluetooth keyboard so I don't know about the responsiveness, but the hand writing has a noticeable delay. I'm not sure how to open word with evernote sorry, so I cannot comment on that specific aspect. But since the app could run, I'd assume it works

Thanks, it makes me think that there will be some Word clone that will run on it.
