Speaking of build quality... does anyone else get banding on areas of solid color, like the bottom page bar region? I'm noticing that as well as a little ghosting moving from page to page.

Well, what's "even" or "uneven"? The difference in height isn't big. It's maybe 0.3mm. I have the same for one of the buttons of Sony 300. 0.3mm sounds awfully small. But you easily feel it in your fingertips of course. It doesn't harm functionality of course. But it's a (minor) annoyance. |

I'm noticing the ghosting, but not the banding you describe. For the ghosting I've hoped, this only might be a temporary thing. It's not very strong, maybe on the level of older units like iRex iLiad. But I don't see it on other recent units.

Hrm... the banding gets pretty annoying at times when viewing my newspapers from Sony's store or from my own tool (which uses single-color buttons/blocks). Oddly, going from white to the flat color seems to work, but if it redraws the same color, the banding appears. Might be a defect in my particular screen. Normal burn-in procedures likely wouldn't catch this defect. |

But now, when checking out and focussing on it, I see what you mean. Tested a comic, which I've generated some time ago for iRex iLiad. The tool I've used was optimising the b/w contrast. Here in some pages the banding becomes pretty obvious. I can imagine, for the "wrong" document this can be pretty annoying.

Hi madusaya, I am pretty sure that quite a few people on this forum are very interested in where and how you got your case, it looks very good.

You also see it more with partial refreshes, which are typically intended to be very fast but give up quality a little bit, as opposed to a full screen refresh. Things like popup windows or some things on the menu bar, etc.

After an initial contact to M_Edge a few weeks ago where they said they had no plans to do a cover for the 800, they have now contacted me saying that they should have one out later in the spring but they are not sure exactly when. So I take this to be a sign the 800 is selling well |
