I do know better. That's why I gave my opinion as it pertains to me. I did not say it like it was everyone's opinion. Besides, I was the one who got this thread back on topic.

If this tablet does come out for real and won't last at least 8 hours when all you are doing is reading, then it will be a terrible reader.

(but I acknowledge that that is your point, Jon. Such a vast number of MR users do rate battery life very high on their priorities list, that, as an ebook device, this is a significant issue assuming it is so). Cheers, Marc | |

I think it's meant to be 11.5 hours, buy I've never approached it or thought about it much as I'm always charging distance away (99.9% of the time it is on my bedside, with the charging cable on the undershelf waiting to feed it as necessary). Cheers, Marc |

Several of the iSlate rumours recently have hinted at fancy new multitouch shinies and sophisticated additions to the user interface paradigm. I think this will certainly make it an interesting device from a UI perspective and may give Apple a chance to regain the edge in terms of general computing interfaces, since with Win7 Windows is (finally) in some ways superior to OSX (I have machines that run both). But it's looking very unlikely that it'll have anything new on the hardware front, and almost certainly will not be running a PixelQi screen (otherwise they wouldn't have spent so much selling their tech at CES). So it'll be running a conventional LCD (or maybe an OLED for the bankers looking to blow their bonuses) and will have usability and battery-life to match. That makes it a non-starter as an ereader. |

Childish, no. But it is in direct response to the wave of "i"s and "e"s in front of every computer they made. It started with the iMac. Granted their effort of making a computer in a box that you just plugged in was laudable but they went overboard treating the public like... children. If they had made one computer like that it would have been okay but they insisted with repeated waves of those, like we're all unsufferable iDiots. Writing it aPple is like a polite manifestation against that repeated repeated repeated (sorry) marketing ploy... and it's still going on. iSlate/ iTablet? they're still at it you know...
