WARNING: Do not attempt this in winter, when clothes are bulkier. It might burst through the carry-on and rip a hole in the side of the plane!

Wishing all MR US members a happy 4th July in advance. It's not a holiday here; in fact we in the UK don't seem to have any kind of National Day, which I think is a little bit sad. |

Which one? She has two. I doubt many people know when they are and they are certainly not National holidays. Well, that probably is supposed to be our National Day (but only for England), but its is not a holiday and I doubt whether 10% of English people could tell you when that is. If you do celebrate it you also tend to get looked on as some kind of rabid xenophobe with racist tendencies! |

And, kaz, my comments on the lack of undies... from personal experience with my husband packing for the kids. The kids are actually a little better at packing. I taught them (for weekend trips around the island) one outfit for each day (shirt, shorts, undies), one extra outfit, one pair of long pants and one long shirt/sweatshirt. Mostly they just forget the toothbrush

Yay! Finally! The 4th of July is a big deal for our small town of Mount Morris. Their big annual festival is the "Let Freedom Ring Festival" with lots of activities in the town square, a parade and a great fireworks display for such a small town! If that isn't enough to keep us busy, just across the river in Dixon, where Shel lives is their annual Petunia Festival and all of it's activities! Why both town's festivals are at the same time every year, I'll never know! Of course around here, all of the towns have their own festival sometime throughout the summer and then the county fairs start up towards the latter half of summer! Seems like there's something going on somewhere around us every week! Too funny! |

Nationalism. Bah! I say we should just all celebrate Mobilita Republica Day and be done with the flag waving. Oh, wait! An MR flag! (doggie runs away to ponder the possibilities)
