The effort isn’t wasted. Exploits are always patched once Amazon finds out about them.

But 5.19.3 has been pulled. So downloading it won't work. That's the problem.

Finally finished another video where I discuss all available solutions for bug filled Kindles updates 5.19.2, 5.19.3 regarding USB / side loaded MOBI AZW3 manga.

This video is ONLY manga focused, but it discusses stuff like account based bugs that may interest people in general.

It also discusses more bugs found since my last video and explains better some things glossed over previously.

TLDR:

If you are on 5.18 or earlier, airplane mode to avoid problems. (5.19 and 5.19.1 were 2025 scribe exclusive)

If you are on 5.19.2, logout and stay logged out, but this deletes all data but solves all problems. Alternatively, you can make a new Amazon account and log in with that but airplane mode immediately.

If you want 5.19.3, it fixes death margins while logged in with wifi on but adds other problems, so it's a trade off that might not be worth it.

Did anyone notice that UI reverted to the "old" format with 5.19.3?

I much prefer the old format. I'll probably stay on 5.19.3 with airplane mode on forever...

With the old update, the book was not covered by the top and bottom bars and instead "shrunk" down on the screen. I've attached my UI from 5.19.3.

Please call it by the proper abbreviation. It's the PW5, There is no PW11. The current Paperwhite is the PW6.

There ware no 5.19.3 released for the PW5. NO idea if the PW5 will get new firmware when Amazon fixes the problems with 5.19.3.

Just my 2 cents:

The same mistake has been repeated multiple times [prob, by more than one people]. One person is correcting the same. Ideally, if any person has gone through the whole thread in which the mistake out already, the mistake should not happen again.

I feel that its unfair to point at the person who is trying to rectify a repeating problem. There is no personal benefit that the person is getting by mentioning the correction.

I do not know if there are time limits to modify a post, the best situation for me would be for the authors to edit their post and make the correction, which to me, is a win win for all.

I saw this posted on Reddit. I can't vouch for its authenticity but it may provide some insight as to why Amazon has been having increasingly bad firmware updates lately:

I still work for Amazon unfortunately and the amount we are being pushed to use Amazon’s shitty AI systems is outrageous when they barely work.

I’m in cybersecurity. First thing I do in the morning is export a spreadsheet of tickets needing attention which I then manually manipulate to send lists to colleagues. I’ve done this manually for 6 years. It takes me 10 minutes.

Now all of a sudden I MUST use AI for this. Guess what? Not only does Amazon’s shit Quick AI change cell data despite being explicitly told not to, what used to take 10 minutes now takes 30 because I have to check the AI’s work. Never had to check my own work because it’s brain dead simple work.

Andy Jassy is running the company into the ground. And there’s even more layoffs on the horizon.

I also saw this post on Reddit, afaik lab 126 is responsible for kindle hardware and updates?

A family member works at Amazon Lab126, they laid off most people and vibe code everything. Maybe you heard about how that worked out for AWS

If you read what I said, I said you should use PW5 as that's what most people know this version of the Paperwhite. I didn't remember what the 11th Gen PW was until I looked it up. But had put PW5, I would have known without looking anything up. So please change it to PW5.
