Sorry about that. Pretty much none of the extra python modules were present as the "pip install -r requirements.txt" command failed during the download phase of one of the modules. So the install phase never happened. I'll look for a way to ensure that such an error cause the whole action run to fail.

You last build log (RC2) looks fine, to be clear.

Okay, we think we know the issue and it was on our end, so we have rebuilt the AppImage (hopefully with all its parts now!).

Please grab the new file Sigil-2.7.5-RC2-x86_64.AppImage from my personal github Repo.

Hopefully this one works!

  • Open epub
  • Open an html page in Code View and see it reflected in Preview window
  • Open css stylesheet in external editor (in my case, BBEdit)
  • Make edits to stylesheet using external editor
  • Save (but do not close) stylesheet in external editor
In previous Sigil versions, including 2.7.0, the Preview window would automatically update to reflect the changes made to the stylesheet every time I save it in the external editor.

In 2.7.5 RC, the open Preview window does not automatically update. Instead, I have to click the Update Preview Window button. Alternatively, I can open a different html page and it will accurately reflect the stylesheet, then go back to the previously open html page.

Please let me know if there is further information I can provide, and if this is just me and I'm doing something weird.

Thank you
Okay, I think I have this fixed in master. To test, I opened the Alice epub and navigated to an xhtml file to show things in Preview.

Next I used "Open With" to open the styles.css file with BBEdit. In BBEdit I changed the css to start with "body { background: red;} " then did a File Save in BBEdit which writes the changes to the file.

Sigil detected this external change on Disk and told Preview to force clear the cache so that the upcoming update to Preview will start fresh.

The nice red background appeared almost immediately in Preview with no need to hit the Reload button.

So we should be back to normal for external editing.

Thank you for your bug report!

This must be a Windows specific change of some sort in Qt 6.10.2. I have pushed to master a change to try to forcibly remove the min button. It has no impact on Mac as it is already disabled. Hopefully it will work on Windows. If not, that is a Qt bug.

With Mac OS you see the following in the About box.

The green button is a built in Mac feature to auto tile your windows for you.

Okay, I have been playing around with a simple shrinkable Qt window that should work in a crossplatform manner without having the need to strip off the native window titlebar and create our own. Native titlebars are too useful to remove and might break third party extensions/tools.

Check out the images shrinkable_window.png and shrunk_window.png.

The python3 code to play with it, "testit.py", is also attached so if you have PySide6 in your python3 interpreter you should be able to play with it.

Perhaps we could add this for the Spellcheck Editor dialog and the Reports Dialog and not allow them to minimize?

Thoughts?

I think we need to determine if the code that we added to be able to minimize Reports and Spellcheck has somehow caused the "all Sigil dialogs now have minimize and maximize buttons" problem, or if it is indeed caused by 6.10.2. Because if it's the latter, we're still going to need to figure out how to turn them all off again before we can decide if (and where) to implement our own "shrink" feature on only certain dialogs.

I'm planning on experimenting some tonight with variations on:

dialog->setWindowFlags(windowFlags() | Qt::CustomizeWindowHint | Qt::WindowMininizeButtonHint | Qt::WindowMaximizeButtonHint);

Should I be able to revert this one commit to get back to what Sigil 2.7.0 used (ignoring the Qt update)? I'm just trying to see if 6.10.x is indeed the culprit. https://github.com/Sigil-Ebook/Sigil...b2e99ed5947728

OK,I got RC2 and it seems to run, but my first plugin failed. Checked other plugins, and they all fail; the only message is "plugin failed to start".

I think someone asked for an enhancement that takes you to the first occurrence on the xhtml page when you double click a line in the list. It previously just took you to the top of the xhtml page.

Now, it does neither! lol

It takes you to the style on the css page instead of the xhtml page...

That's odd. I checked RC2 with the testplugin plugin and it passed all tests with flying colors. Are you sure the "Use Bundled Python" box is checked in Sigil's plugin preferences section? That can easily get disabled if you ever run a non-appimage version of Sigil.

EDIT: correct me if I'm wrong, but you were running an earlier 2.7.5 beta AppImage successfully (including several plugins), right? https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...6&postcount=15

Nothing should have really changed in any major way for the AppImage (especially with regards to running plugins).

Yes that is where they asked for it to go as far as I could tell.

Opening an xhtml can be done in multiple ways. Going to a single instance in an xhtml file when that class could be used in any number of xhtml files makes little sense. That list is not complete that field is there to illustrate it is being used.

Where it is used in xhtml files when it may be used lots of times in multiple places (not just the randomly chosen link in the Report table) is best done by Find and Replace.

So it works as designed as far as I can tell.

FWIW I just downloaded the RC2 AppImage onto my Linux Manjaro box and tested running a bunch of plugins AFTER making sure the Use Bundled Python was checked and they all worked.

Please also test the About Box as I pushed a change that on all platforms should disable or remove the Minimize button on the titlebar for the About Box.

When you make your windows test build please take a peek at the About box to make sure that works on Windows.

Will do. I was going to see if I could get the minimize buttons all to go away by reverting that one commit. I'm hoping we don't have manually disable any other minimize buttons to enable them on a select few dialogs. But if that fails, I'll look to see if your commit will at least take the buttons away from the about dialog.
