8.16.0 had issues
8.16.2 is current, but because you had 8.16, the notifications do not work on the 'fixed' release. Simply go to the Calibre download site and get the latest and that should help |

I'm sure we've been through this before, but I can't remember.
I wanted to have a look at RG and this message showed up. I started reading the book last year, but haven't finished it yet. The strange thing is that the message is only appearing now and not the days before (IIRC). Calibre 8.16.2 RG 2.0.7 |

It's now 2026. You last read date in calibre is 2025. What you cab do is change the date to 01/01/2026. Then you can add the book to your list. And once you plug in your Kobo and update the resting stats after having read that book, you'll be correct again. |

Shouldn't they be transferred automatically? I also have currently reading books from 2024 and I can't remember this message in the past.

I have added it as JSWolf described with a new date and got 2 entries with 0% progress for this book. Then I deleted it and added it as a new book with the old 2025 date. Since then no problems anymore.

The problem I reported on 01-09-2026 11:05 AM still persists.
Thanks for the tip.
I've since upgraded not only to Calibre version 8.16.2, but also updated my Mac to macOS Tahoe 26.2. Perhaps this unfortunately didn't resolve the issue. The problem I reported on 01-09-2026 11:05 AM still persists. What else could be causing it? Thanks for your efforts. Best regards Quote:

And yes, they are transfered automatically if you check this option, but the plugin does not change your calibre library, and that's what causes the inconsitence. This is a conseguence of the developing choice to never change the calibre library. Last edited by thiago.eec; 01-22-2026 at 03:48 PM. |

Calibre 9 beta now has built-in pages column. Don't see way to set to it in options. No hurry, but some users may want to use it instead of custom column when it releases (I won't, half my books are physical).

Also, the beta brings a new incompatibility issue QWebEngineView that afects the plugin. When you click the month name to go to the daily view, calibre crashes. I'm working on a fix. |

New test version for calibre 9
This is a test version for those using calibre 9 betas.
Bug fixes: - Fix a crash when opening the Daily graph, due to an update in PyQt - Fix a bug where some users have an 'All' entry as Year in the database file - Fix a missing icon in the Custom Challenges dialog New option: - With calibre 9, we have a native 'Pages' column that calculates a page count for all the books in the library. The user can choose this column in the Reading Goal config dialog, instead of a customn column. For most users, this is not recommended though, since this calculation can have errors with certain files, and a value of '-1' is used when you have an empty book (no formats). Last edited by thiago.eec; 02-01-2026 at 07:23 AM. Reason: Removed test version. New version released. |

Please excuse my late reply to your help.
I've now installed the new version. Some things are working again. However, I'm now missing the "All" overview (I know this was never intended. Unfortunately). There are other things I don't understand. I still can't manage to define "Reading Goals" or "Challenges". My natural computer illiteracy isn't improving with age, and my language barrier isn't helping either. I'm frustrated, and this great plugin is only a small part of the reason. Thanks for your help, but please don't bother me anymore. |

The 'All' view is available in the year menu. When it open the 'Edit Reading Goal' dialog, it is automatically set to 2026 (the current year). Just cick on it and change to 'All'.
Quote:
Once you have the plugin configured, you can start adding books to your goal. To add a book to your Reading Goal, the date column must have a 2026 date (or it can be blank). To register your progess, just add a new date to this column and new percentage to your read date column. This automatically creates a new record for the book. You can see it in the 'Edit Reading Goal' dialog or in the 'Statistics' graphs. To create a new 'Challenge', go to the 'Custom challenges' menu option, click on the first button on the right and set a name, and the starting and finishing dates. Once it it is created it will appear in the 'Add to challenge' menu. Feel free to ask for help if you still can't make it work. |

Thank you, thiago.eec, for your help and patience.
I can do some things now. However, I still have two problems and a question. I will explain them in separate posts. I found the "All" option, but the problem persists. When I select it, I get the error message shown in Screenshot 1and 2 with the following error message: Quote:
