I really like my Kobo Clara Colour. I wish it had page turn buttons but I prefer the smaller size (and the smaller price). I know that the Walmart near me no longer has any ereaders to look at. That is a shame because they did have an agreement with Kobo at one time. When I went to look at them they were hidden in the back of the electronics department and the associates didn't even know what they were. They quietly disappeared over a year ago.

abbynormal52, looking on Walmarts site, I don't see any Amazon Kindles. And as far as I recall, there are no eink ereaders on display at Walmarts. Bestbuys by me have Kindles (although the displays aren't the best). Target might be another possibility for Kindles
Good luck. |

I may end up keeping the one that's coming in the mail. I can afford the higher price, I just was beating myself up about have the stylus ability, when to be honest, with my tremor, I can hardly sign my name on paper, let along a screen. And I have no real artistic ability, don't make note in my books etc. I like the buttons on top, but don't even need that. Is this buyers remorse

What *is* very nice, over the smaller Clara model, is that with the Libra Colour, you get Dropbox and Google Drive access natively. Built-in, out of the box ready. And that is so VERY useful for sideloading content without getting out a USB cable. It is a feature I personally use all the time. The capability can be added to a Clara device via Nickel Menu and a bit of fiddling, but that might be more than you want to fuss with to have it. And I truly doubt you'll find any Kobo devices at Walmart. They weren't thick on the ground even when the Kobo/Walmart association was active. My local store put up a display, but never hooked it up to electricity. The display didn't last long before they pulled it out. So, yeah, you could "see" a Kobo device, and put your hands on one, but it wasn't, in any way, active. Just the case and a blank e-ink screen, LOL! |

I suprisingly got my Kobo delivered about 4 or 5 yesterday. I took sort of a brief look, didn't take off the nice celaphane on the screen though. That was in the way of some of the lower items on the screen as it had tiny black printed something I didn't look at closely. What I missed right off was the seeing my apps I can have on my kindle at home-screen. Buttons don't do much, I had to find out "where" to tap the screen, center to get home-finally from inside a book from libby. I don't know, but the side-loading was something I really would like to have. I don't see so I'm way glad you mentioned that option being on the Libra?? I'm seriously thinking to stay with the kindles, just because I'm not sure now at all. I've used them a long time, since the little 7" came out at 50 bucks. They've never failed me, but finally are running out of juice now, but still working well enough for reading. I'll chime in again when I know a bit more, but can't thank you enough for all the extra info this a.m.,

Sideloading to eink usually means sideloading books, not apps. If you want Android apps on an ereader, you'll need an Android device, like Onyx Boox ones. You can't sideload apps to eink Kindles and Kobos. You can only sideload books to them.

The Fire is a "crippled" LCD Android Tablet. Crippled in sense of Amazon tries to make it a walled garden. A decent Android tablet is better.
The Fire isn't an ereader at all. It simply has a custom version of the Kindle App. |

I'm not the type that needs anything with a lot of bells and whistles, there was a time, but not now. I have a Win 10 gaming PC at my desk, and a Win 11 Laptop I use in my kitchen area, a Smart TV in my living-room. I'm old, don't travel, but if I am out and about, I have my Android Phone that is more like a computer than a phone. My reader is forever by my bed for night-reading. Christmas time is the hardest time of the year for me, and times like that I start thinking buying something will make it all better, but a walk, just breathing in the fresh air, is better than spending money on a temporary-fix for me |

I much prefer a dedicated ereader like the Kindle, and as a 2nd choice, an iPad. But, to each his own. It just boils down to what is important to the individual. |

It's even OK to have more than one reading device for different purposes. I'm a total nerd weirdo I suppose, for having a full Android phone (Pixel 9A, it was SUCH a deal), an iPad Air, and three different brands of e-ink readers (Kobo, Pocketbook, and Kindle), all of which are in regular use. And while we are being all non-ecosystem centric, a Garmin fitness watch! ![]() As for this time of year, I get it. We get a lot of fog in our little eastern OR valley. It can be really gloomy for months. The doctors around here all prescribe supplemental vitamin D. I use one of those SAD lamps, and get what light I can. It does help. Today, happily, is sunny, though freezing temps out. |

here's the books I picked out on Libby to try tonight:
Rex Stout - And Four to Go Joan Hess -Malice in Maggody Joan Hess - Big Foot Stole My Wife Joan Hess - Damsels in distress I tried to find 1st in series, but most are mid-series that were available now. I'll know after a few pages if any will grab my interest. I feel confident with these I won't have it ruined by a "f" bomb or something else disappointing. The last series I was way into was by Sarah Ladd, what a good story teller she is, but her books for so repetitive I lost interest. She was way good at researching, full of knowledge about the "way things used to be". Made me wished I'd lived back in those days. But of course, there were things back then I wouldn't have liked at all, I guess I was born when I meant to be
