I got tricked into thinking I should clean up my garage and fix my yard like a responsible youngish old guy.

But here’s the punchline. The dumpster charges by weight. They pick it up tomorrow. And every inch of this storm is stuffing itself into every nook and cranny of my dumpster like it’s trying to qualify for world’s heaviest frozen sponge.

Mother Nature coulda waited one more day. Just one. But nah, she clocked out early and dumped a wet blanket straight into my retirement budget.

This is why I shoulda been writing crappy pulp stories instead of being responsible. Ugh! I guess the universe really likes its jokes cold.

Nice reading (thanks ), but pardon: aren't there some places like "Solid waste and materials management sites and facilities", where it's possible to go for large garbage, whitout paying per kg? (https://cdphe.colorado.gov/hm/swfacilities)

I would suspect that the company supplying the dumpster are the one charging by weight. Unless you happen to have your own dumpster and truck for hauling it around, you will have to rent a dumpster and most of the rentals in this area have a base fee and then add per kilogram and type of waste (as an example, disposing of drywall to a dumpster is expensive).

You used to be able to dump anything in a skip (dumpster?) but now there is a list of what they won't take.

Mattresses were a problem for a while and you do pay per mattress at the 3 places that take them.

Anyone selling a fridge, cooker, washing machine etc is liable for the packing and taking the old one.

Seemed like it, yeah. The weird part was this older “metal bug” guy who kept hopping into the dumpster and grabbing anything made of metal. I didn’t mind. I respect a side hustle. I just worried he’d slip on a broken chair or cut himself on some junk, so I started stacking the metal on one side so he could reach it easier.

He was a nice enough guy with a really nice truck. One morning I asked, casual and friendly, how much he made doing taking the metal things. He shut down right away and got sort of distant. I wasn’t trying to muscle in on his gig. I was just curious, since he took parts of an old gate I had, broken metal lam, pieces of a weight bench, etc. I even offered to help him load the stuff, but he turned me down.

I overthink stuff, so I kept worrying he’d hurt himself. In the end nothing happened and everything was fine.

Why do anesthetics often hit me weird. I just got back from the dentist for a filling and he hit me really good with the anesthetic, so good my ear feels numb and not in a good way. It feels like the beginnings of an ear infection.

It also takes a long while to wear off for me. So I'm going to take some painkillers (he also got my gums good), put something fun on the TV and cross stitch for a while.
