Both page turn buttons go next on firmware 4.44.23552
Hi! I was able to patch my Kobo Libra Color with firmware 4.44.23552 using the zip in the first post by changing the version number in the kobopatch.yaml, and all my patches worked except for "both page turn buttons go next". Does anyone happen to know how to make that one work? Here's the error I got:
Spoiler:
ETA: I'm on a Mac, if it matters.

I am relatively new to using KoboPatch. Thanks to everybody who did the work to get most of these patches working on this firmware version. I've had no trouble getting some patches working on my Libra 2 using a computer running Linux Mint 22.
FWIW, I use these patches: Spoiler:

Oi with the poodles already. Love the user name. As a tradition, my wife and I watch the entirety of Gilmore Girls every fall.
I've got a Kobo Libra Color in the mail about to arrive. I've been rocking a 10 year old modified Kindle Paperwhite up to this point. And, I've fallen in love with applications like KoReader in that time frame, but I've also learned the importance of blocking firmware updates so that I can continue using it without it breaking. My question for you mainly is, was there anything special you feel a new Libra Colour user should know about how you patched it other than what you said in your post? Now that a little time has passed, are you still finding the patch working reliably for you, etc? It's just a new device and I'd hate to brick it or something by experimenting with patching it and then doing something incorrectly. All the information for modding kobos seems to span many, many years, is scattered all over the place, and things have changed many times over time, making my research on how to do this "correctly" a bit overwhelming. So. Just looking for your personal feedback on this patching process and if you'd had any issues since this original post. Anywho. I'd appreciate it and I'm sure other Kobo Libra Colour users would appreciate it, too, since there doesn't seem to be large volumes of discussion around it and the compatibility. Thanks again and take care! |

I can't seem to figure out how to edit my previous post I made. I originally hit the "reply" button to "hepalien's" message about the Libra Colour. I'm guessing they haven't been notified about my response and may not even see this post. I would have edited this into the original post, but again, I can't seem to figure out how to do that. Sorry. <3 Just wanted to clarify the intended recipient since it doesn't appear to have tagged them or anything when I hit the "reply" button.

OS X should be able to open most of the files that are typically in the patches as text. Unless Jon or Peter have done something wildly different then what Geek used to post. I doubt that’s the case since they’re all using the same tools with the same end goal and from what others have said the patch process with these patches on a Mac is the same as with the ones geek had posted.
I haven’t updated any of my Kobos since the last “official” patches because I haven’t seen any features I care about and haven’t had any issues on them. But maybe I’ll poke around tonight with these. |

Thanks for filling me in on that, pdurrant! I didn't know that was a limitation, but it's good to know. Appreciate it.

KL2, using windows. I patched firmware 4.38.23552 using the patch in the first post. The following patches applied flawlessly:
libnickel: Always show confirmation dialog before upgrading FeatureSettings - BookSpecificStats Custom header/footer page number text nickel.yaml: Dictionary pop-up - increase available text area Reduce top/bottom page spacer Remove footer (row3) and increase cover size on new home screen Reduce new header/footer height |

IMHO, the best possible thing to do is to learn how to use calibre-web-automated (link: https://github.com/crocodilestick/Calibre-Web-Automated) and self-host your own library. It supports Kobo Sync API, meaning you can enter your own 'store' api key onto the device and wirelessly sync your books 'natively'. As in, the books appear in 'my books' and you tap to download them. I do this for all my family devices, kids, etc., and it's incredible quality-of-life thing using a Kobo. patch Customize ComfortLight settings doesn't work on Firmware 4.38.23552 (Clara 2E)
Hi,
I'm trying the patched 4.38.23552 firmware on Windows for the Clara 2E. The patch that doesn't work in libnickel is "Customize ComfortLight settings." Spoiler:

I patched my Elipsa with 4.38.23552 and I had no issue.
OS Linux 64 bit. If You are on Linux remember to set as executable, if they are not already settled, not only file kobopatch.sh but also file kobopatch-linux-64bit (or eventually kobopatch-linux-32bit). I used these patches: Spoiler:
