Problem with Update 8.7
Sorry if I'm in the incorrect place. I searched but did not find another compatible thread.
I am a longtime user and lover of Calibre and have never had a problem updating to the latest version.
Today I downloaded and tried to install 8.7 but it will not install and I can't uninstall the old version 7.??
Has anyone else had this problem?

AFAIK there were no OS restricted changes if you were upgrading from a recent previous release.

What OS (brand and version)
What PC CPU (chip)

Security software frequently updates and sometimes causes issues.

Reboot (just incase there is a pending W11 upgrade), then try a fresh download.

Copy any error messages and post them here. You should NOT be having issues with W11

Linux Mint 22.1 with Mate Desktop and Calibre 8.7 from Website is fine. The 8.6 was fine on Mint 21.3. I only just updated Mint, so I may have had 8.7 on Mint 21.3 too.

What are the symptoms… is there an error message, is the existing version 7.? install usable.

If the old version isn't working try uninstalling it in Windows Safe Mode, don't worry you won't lose your libraries or settings.

@moonbase, @quoth can you hold off on the Linux advocacy until @SuzanneH11's problem is solved. Better yet take all such discussions to a "My OS is better than your OS" forum.

For what it may be worth, on my desktop with Windows 11 24H2 26100.4652 with NVidia graphics card, calibre 8.7 comes up happily. On a VM install, Windows 11 24H2 26120.4733 (Beta channel), I needed to add QT_OPENGL=software and QTWEBENGINE_CHROMIUM_FLAGS=--disable-gpu to the system environment variables. I suspect this is due to conflicts between the emulated graphics card and what QT expects.
