Of course, if you now want to import new AZ books with color images into Calibre, a Colorsoft is the only way to do it now, AFAIK. Can anyone point to another way?

eBay is the biggest source of blacklisted Kindles.

There is a jailbreak that might work that doesn't need to be registered. I forget the name. You still cannot download Amazon eBooks. So it's not all that useful other then installing KOReader to read ePub. This is why I'd be very careful as to where I bought a used Kindle. Ebay would be right out. I've read of many getting a blacklisted Kindle. I did buy my Kindle Touch from Goodwill back before they switched to doing bidding. |

You did notice the @Sirtel lists Estonia as their country? Very different from being in North America. Though one friend of mine in the States has issues with downloading from the local library since they are using Hoopla and you either read books in your browser or using the Hoopla app. They are hoping that a switch back to Overdrive happens since the library is reporting that Hoopla is costing about 20% more than Overdrive and is resulting in more end user complaints.

Pre-2013 eink Kindles running firmware older than v5.6.5 still receive KF8/azw3 with color covers and images. You can download to Kindle, connect Kindle to computer, then import into calibre.

I just bought a kindle book with publication date of May 10, 2025, and I received the same message that others have received on K4PC version 2.4.0 (build 70904). I had blocked the updates and used the .bat file. I have never owned a Kindle, so I guess there is no way to read this book unless I update the K4PC app. Am I correct? I use Kobo ereaders. Kobo does not have any books from two of my favorite authors so I had to buy the book from Amazon. One of the authors does sell one audio book on Kobo store for $32 but I never buy audiobooks. I wish Kobo had more authors that I follow. |

Okay so I got my Kindle Paperwhite. And I attempted to break the drm on one of the books I bought and it still comes up saying cannot convert... I added dedrm and the kfx plugin but it doesn't seem to have worked.. Anyone know why? I haven't updated the kindle since getting it, it's on v5.12 and the books are shown in calibre as kfx-zip. What do I do? |
