Jailbroken Kindle: KUAL giving error after auto updating to 5.18.1 - Help

Hi All,

Had a Kindle Colorsoft, JB on 5.18.0.1, was able to successfully install Hotfix, and KUAL. I also installed renameotabin so that the kindle does not auto update.
Today I saw that the kindle updated my JB colorsoft to 5.18.1
now I am unable to launch KUAL and it gives me "Application Error - the selected application could not be started. Please try again"

This has broken the JB effectively and I am unable to access KoReader

Any suggestions

FYI: the kindle was already jailbroken, so any ways to reverse the software?

After an update you have to reinstall MRPI, KUAL, and maybe koreader.

Installing renameotabin is not enough. You have to actually run it.

I did run renameotabin after JB, by clicking 'rename' in KUAL
Still the Kindle updated to the new software

Should I reset the Kindle to factory, will that solve or remove the jailbreak?

Hi,

I have exactly the same error ! I have Kindle Oasis (10th generation) I did the Jailbreak right, until the renameotabin step. It rebooted, then AUTO-UPDATED - which the renameotabin should've blocked. I now have a 5.18.1 firmware, and KUAL is not working anymore, I have factory reset and reinstalled the MRPI/KUAL files, and did the ";log mrpi" step, but nothing happens, I'm afraid I've juste lost my Jailbreak ???

KUAL is not working for anyone, possibly because the developers key has expired.

From what I've seen, NiLuJe has done a updated KUAL which is available in the Snapshots of NiLuJe's hacks from the links in the first message.

There is a new version of the hotfix (2.0.0) from the KindleModding Hotfix page.
