Search is inconsistent.
I have a hard time searching my library and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Searches don't return the results I expect. "series:true gentlemen bastard" returns a single title https://prnt.sc/ymnL95qogsLx while an author search returns 3 titles by author and mention of author in the description "authors:true scott lynch" https://prnt.sc/hgJRtsPprnF8 I've used the edit meta data feature to download book details of these titles. I've verified the series on each of them matches. If I use the exact series name, then I get all three books https://prnt.sc/vx8WoH834ZcD Shouldn't my partial word have returned any book series containing the word or is search always supposed to be EXACT? |

When I search it seems like unless I'm exact, I wont get the results I think I should get.
For example, searching for series "gentlemen bastard" returns one book https://prnt.sc/839_SGbadVJe While 'the gentlemen bastard" returns all three https://prnt.sc/yZsdFDD9k0jx Is search designed so that you are supposed to know exactly what you're looking for rather than contains such word? |

Click on the "cog" icon to the left of the word "series"
In the setting "what type of match" set it to "contains. Does that fix it? |

Why is there a true in your search term?
series:true tests for belonging (value set) to ANY series |

Quote:
series:true (returns all books that contain series index, meaning: are part of a series) 'gentlemen bastard' looks in all fields unless you have set under Preferences -> Searching "Limit the searched metadata" the gentleman bastard, likewise. And it's a different search, so there's no inconsistency ![]() |

I figure you could use
series:bastard (series:gentleman or series:gentlemen) that will find all books that contain in series name 'bastard' and gentleman or gentlemen |
