I think most of us have gone through that stage before realizing that most of the freebies were priced correctly.

They used to give away some good books temporarily. Now they just discount them temporarily. So the price of a good "freebie" has gone up to about $3! |

Well, I was looking through my Calibre library and a cover caught my eye. It was a book I got for free, and I decided to give it a try. I am actually enjoying it. It is not earth shattering or award winning or anything like that. It is just a fun cozy, historical, fantasy mystery. The Watchmakers Daughter by C.J. Archer. Added bonus is that my library has the rest of the series. Maybe some freebies are worth it.

Some, yes. I've also enjoyed a few of them. Most aren't particularly good, however.

Another Kindle gal who used to grab nearly every freebie around, but at some point realized it was a waste of time. They are still all there on my Oasis, "just in case". I have no idea what that case might be. Some dystopian catastrophe in which I can never obtain another book, but can still charge my Kindle?

In my case, though, I'd have enough to read even if I deleted all those long-ago freebies. Nevertheless, the hoarder in me won't hear of it. Last edited by Sirtel; 01-11-2025 at 05:22 PM.

Many, many books use Vellum (mostly self-pubs). It's still better than those books where the author has obviously just typed the book in Word or some other word processor, knowing zilch about formatting. At least Vellum books have formatting.

Whatever else you have to say about Vellum, it is very consistent which makes saving searches an easy choice.
