The plugin has been updated for EPUBCheck 5.1.0. Those who downgraded to EPUBCheck 5.0.1 can do the following to have the plugin download and install EPUBCheck 5.1.0: Select Preferences > Miscellaneous > Open Calibre configuration folder > plugins Then either delete the EPUBCheck folder or edit EpubCheck.json and change the last_time_checked entry. |

How do you actually run the check in Calibre? I installed it but it doesn't seem to do anything or have a way to run a check.

Since it's an editor plugin, you'll have to select the book, right-click it and select Edit Book. In the editor, click the green check mark button or select Plugins > Run EpubCheck.

Thank you, would not have guessed that. If the First post is editable, it might be a good thing to add there?

New user of EPUBCheck, thought I'd see how it differs from the built-in editor. When I run this plugin, the report looks like: Code: NA Line: 29 Col: 75 ERROR....... Code: EPUBCheck didn't report the name of the file that caused this error Calibre 6.25, MacOS 13.5.1, EPUBCheck 0.2.5, Java 1.8.0_381 |

Usually, it'll display other error messages for the same file before this error message. If you fix them, the error message without a file name will also go away. Using the following options in Calibre Editor before running the EpubCheck plugin might also help: Tools > Fix HTML - all files Tools > Arrange into folders Last edited by Doitsu; 09-06-2023 at 05:23 PM.

"Fix HTML" made a bunch of changes, and I also did "arrange into folders", but the NAs still appear. I didn't feel like typing the full message. All of the errors for this particular epub are complaints about "border", but I'm more concerned about the NA file id. Code: NA Line:10 Col:36 ERROR(RSC-005): Error while parsing file: attribute "border" not allowed here; expected attribute "class", "dir", "id", "lang", "style", "title" or "xml:lang" Code: EPUBCheck didn't report the name of the file that caused this error. (OK) |

To be on the safe side, you can also check your book with Sigil and Sigil EPUBCheck plugin. Since the Calibre plugin parses the .txt output and the Sigil plugin parses the .json output, you might get different results.

After updating to Calibre 7.11, running epubcheck in the editor doesn't return any results. Just runs and the results pane does not load.

Current version is 7.12, though I'm still on 7.10 as I only update immediately for security or something I use is broken and update fixes it. I've two epub checks in Calibre Editor. One has a ladybird icon and the other a green square. |

Interesting, do you know what plugin the bird icon one is associated with? The green check is the plugin linked to this thread, and the one I'm currently using.
