Epub vs kepub

I've read that converting epubs to kepubs results in a little snappier performance on kobo readers. I'm currently using a Kobo Sage, always read epub format books and wondered if this was true and if there are any advantages to converting my books to kepub format. Is it worth it to use Calibre to convert to kepub format? |

ePub supports better typesetting with kerning, ligatures, hyphenation, and variable spacing between words. KePub can be made to do some of these things, but it's not done as well. So I would say go with ePub for eBooks that do not have images you'll want to zoom and that do not have footnotes.

Kepubs are definitely faster. That said, don't convert your books. Use the KoboTouch Extended Driver to send your books to your Kobo as kepubs. This way the books in the library will still be epubs and no additional space is needed for kepubs. I use kepubs on the Sage and epubs on the Libra 2. |

Kepub is better alround. And the sideload is a little extra step via calibre. |

ePub & KePub each have things that are better then the other. Neither is better then the other.

In the past, it was much easier to select footnotes with kepubs; I don't know if it still is.

I started to chime in on the page numbering but remembered we already had a long thread about why people love or hate each kind of page numbering so I didn't want to drag this thread down that rabbit hole. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=323591 |

I don't see the typesetting differences to be honest.

This is news to me. I was browsing here this morning because I noticed that all my kepubs show up with the series name and number before the name on the device, and I was going to take the time this morning to actually learn how to configure the kepub converter.
