I don't know if they are referring to the two sets of LEDs these devices have, one for white and the other for the colour, or if they are seeing a break in light on the right side. Which I don't see. Or is the reference to "bar" mean they think there should be a single long LED down that side?

It does feel like they have gone out of their way to make it look as bad as possible. The light settings and camera seem to emphasise it. And the pink makes it worse. I want to see it in person. But, the local shop that should stock them doesn't have any yet. Their web site still shows "Pre-order" and all they could say was they didn't have them in yet.

Edit:

I didn't notice the comment on the reddit page under the photo about them exaggerating the lighting until I saw @MGlitch's post. To me, that makes the photo pretty much useless. I have no idea from the photo what it actually looks like. I am sure the poster is seeing something, but, I can't tell how bad it actually is.

Yeah, it looks like a battery connector like mobile phone batteries use.

I'm hoping the added weight of the Sage over the Forma might not be as bad as if it was distributed over the area of a smaller device like the Clara, in terms of the perception of the added weight.

Yes, those dots must be the charging connectors for the battery pack.

The light uniformity over the screen looks good, insofar as it's possible to tell over a video. I was looking at the button side bezel for the characteristic strip that plagued the Forma and couldn't see it, FWIW.

YMMV of course, but yes, it's heavier in a direct comparison, but I don't really feel the extra weight using it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to be extremely curious to see what your battery performance is like over the first week or so of using the Sage.

I'm in the minority of users who still value battery performance highly; not so much because of any inconvenience with having to re-charge, but because of the potential for battery degradation over the life of the device. Was the reason I sold my Oasis 1. E-ink devices don't change enough over the course of a few years to warrant having to upgrade because of a degraded battery.

Alas my Sage met with a sorting delay. I’ll have an updated delivery time tomorrow.

Though at least I know it’s been shipped, Kobo did finally send an email today (despite the fact that the UPS label was already created on the 18th w/ est. delivery of today the 21st). I expect it’ll either be Monday or Tuesday for when I get it.

The sage I ordered for my wife's birthday arrived yesterday when we were out, so I'll drop by the post office after work to retrieve it.

The processing note I'd received from Kobo earlier this week did indicate that the sleepcover would ship next week.
