Jon; understand that everyone is different. it makes no difference how many times you question someones caution it won't change their mind.

Sometimes it even makes people more entrenched. They get the kick out of resisting you.

I'm thinking the reason my last question wasn't answered is due to empressement after reading the question and thinking "Oh shite! I bought the wrong Reader." |

I'm thinking if you went back and read many of the posts in this thread 9and other threads), you would understand that not everyone has the same opinion as you.

I know not everyone has the same opinions I do. But I see buying say a Kindle and not registering as illogical.

If you don't trust the company, how do you know that they're not auto-connecting to open wifi connections and uploading everything w/o any UI notification?

One reason to register a Kindle is that if you buy eBooks form Amazon, you can use the download feature to download your eBooks and remove the DRM. You cannot do that if you are not registered.

And tbh, aside from his reluctance to consider other POVs as valid, I think JSWolf raises some valid questions. But I guess/hope he's just trying to be provocative.

Also, you can still buy an ereader without having checked the company's background simply because a)other people inspired/urged you to do it b)you want to read ebooks. We don't always behave rationally, but we can come up with reasons after the fact. Doesn't change the fact that trust in the company may not be the main reason you decide to get a product.
