Seriously though, using even clean fingers leaves fingerprints which drive me crazy. And I can always see them, no matter how bright or dim the environment is. I guess some people have very dry skin or just don't pay attention to such minor details, but I'm extremely bothered by fingerprints on my ereader screens.
I will have to disagree with the fingerprints. I just had a look at the screen of my H2O and I had to really look hard to see the one partial fingerprint. Remember, this is not an LCD screen of your cell phone that easily shows all manor of fingerprints.

As for chips, stop eating them while reading and you won't have greasy fingers while reading. The other option is to hold the Reader with one had and use the other to each chips. Just don't switch hands.

But you want to do away with the touch screen. So how is that any different then wanting to do away with page turn buttons?

Please show me where I said I want to do away with the touch screen. You can't, because I didn't.

I said
Quote:
I actually wish all the menu functions were accessible via the buttons, then I would not need to touch the screen at all.
As it exists right now, anyone using the Libra who wants to use it entirely as a touch screen device, without ever using the page buttons at all, can do so. Were the menu functions accessible via the buttons, those who wish to use it entirely without touching the screen would have the same degree of freedom of choice. Adding menu access to the buttons would INCREASE choice, not remove or restrict it.

You can't see the fingerprints, but I can. Perfectly well. Perhaps you have drier skin than I have.

Looking at the names of all those Auras, that hypothetical device would be, of course,

Kobo Aura One 2nd Edition!

But really, the naming is so silly anyway. Maybe they've actually gotten over naming everything Aura this, Aura that, since the last devices (iirc) are Nia, Libra, Clara, Forma. Or did they slip another Aura in there at the low end.

Just to nitpick, it is the Kobo Nia, Kobo Libra H2O, Kobo Clara HD, and the Kobo Forma.

And I would like a 10.3 screen by Kobo
I would bite on a 10.3 as well.

As for naming, know that it's been a mess on Xbox side as well, I guess it's the same marketing team

As for the debate about buttons or not, all my Kobos were with a touch screen, never had the chance to try a clicky Kobo. But I think the "click" would be annoying. Though, not registering the swipe / click on the touchscreen is annoying as well. I can't believe they can't fix that.

Do you have Kobos other than the one listed in your profile. I've had 3 now, Clara, H2O2 (still have) and now Libra, and all had/have responsive touch screens.

Page turn buttons let you read with one hand. Something I could easily do with my Nook ST, but haven't been able to easily do with any of my touchscreen only readers.

I've had multiple Kobos (Touch, Glo, Glo HD), and they have all had/have questionable touch screens.

But I'm not sure if it is unique to Kobo. I had a Paperwhite and eink Nook, and I don't recall problems with them. I'm not sure if it happens on my phone or tablet; with my ereader missing a page turn takes me out of the story.

Didn't Napoleon say "Let them eat chips"?

The solution is so simple: If, like me, you live in mythic splendor then just hire someone to turn the pages...while you eat chips and drink wine.

Next issue!
