For those complaining about Kobo dropping the go to page feature in the books listing, you don't need such. Just use the slider and it shows what page you are on when you release your finger from the slider and it shows the total page numbers. This makes it very easy to go to the page you want.

Truth is, with that many pages of books, if you wanted to find The Tommyknockers by Stephen King, search would work better than either scrollbar or jump to page. Quote:

Sometimes what seems like a change that's not as good as it was turns out to be a change that's actually better. You just have to get used to the new way. I was not happy with change to the home screen from the tiled version and now with all the other changes, I think we are not better of without the tiled home screen as that turns out was a mess. But the new changes have made eBook organizing so much better.

Don't bother with Jon, he hasn't caught the concept that his preferences are absolute truth.

both ways do the job. i prefer the long established go to page number, others will no doubt prefer the new scrollbar. the solution as i've already mentioned in an earlier post is to have both. it seems to me that Kobo make some changes for changes sake. edit. for me the new firmware doesn't have any must-haves, the older firmware and therefore the tiled home screen does. best wishes koboy Last edited by koboy; 08-22-2020 at 02:05 PM.

Honestly I don't have a preference of one way over the other. At fist I didn't like the slider, but the update adding the arrows helped. I'll let it lie after this. I only reply because I think you've decided long ago that the tiled firmware is it and you look for any little nitpick you can find with anything newer to justify keeping it. Honestly, just wanting to keep the old home screen is a good enough excuse.

The biggest dislike I have with the new scroll bar, (note: this is mostly theoretical, I can't think of when it would really affect me unless I was trying to nitpick), there is no way to know what page you are *on*. I can move the scroll bar to change the page slightly, and get an approximate guess. But if I'm doing that something that will make me loose my place, I don't know what page I need to get back to to return to where I was. That would be kind of annoying. Also, the more books you have, the harder it will be to get close to the page you want when moving the scroll bar. As I pointed out before, however, there is no need for this current situation... the new layout has a big blank space just begging to be filled with a page number, and everyone can be happy. |

i'm not nitpicking regarding the go to page number i do use it, the latest firmware taking away that feature/option gives me another reason to stick with the older firmware. i'm no different from anyone else i have my likes and dislikes, opinions/preferences, but i understand and respect other users have theirs too. best wishes koboy Last edited by koboy; 08-22-2020 at 03:37 PM.

edit. i've just found out while using the UI that if you keep your finger on the slider/scrollbar without letting go and move up or down it will show the page number you are on, but when you take your finger off the screen it disappears. which means it doesn't show you what page you are on without having to keep your finger constantly on the screen. best wishes koboy Last edited by koboy; 08-23-2020 at 10:48 AM.

Put your finger on the slider, move it up or down the screen but do not take your finger off the screen. Page numbers appear as XX/YY at the bottom middle of the screen.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the only one who actually spends the vast majority of my time reading instead of fiddling with the Kobo interface.
