I know I'm like a broken record but I just want an updated Oasis One -- rubbery surface, a whole (non-split) battery, waterproofing, and comfort light. Or a six-inch rubbery version of the Kobo Forma. I slightly prefer Kobo software but I'd settle for either brand. I expect the next Kindle to have a fourteen inch screen. |

I regret selling my 6" Oasis. It was so much better than my 7"

8" and comfort light. And better integration with calibre for metadata (series, collections, covers...)

Amazon basically won the ereader game and stopped innovating. Its time for a 8" premium reading device from them.

I wish they'd update the Paperwhite or Voyage instead. The Oasis was just released at the end of last year. Ideally they'd release an update of all three devices, but that's incredibly unlikely.

could even give it a decent sized battery and still be super light. | |

A few weeks ago, Amazon had sale on Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite for Prime members ($20 off on Kindle, $30 off on Paperwhite if I remember correctly, and yeah, on Fire tablets FWIW). Went for about a week. This could be interpreted as inventory reduction prior to release of new model(s). If it just involves RAM or CPU or display update there would not be any FCC paperwork that sometimes signals an impending new device. I would think later this month would be a good launch window; there needs to be some sort of space before Black Friday deals which this year will include a plague of Echo devices and the usual Kindle and Fire deals.

The person I was responding to mentioned it was time for Amazon to release an 8" device. Ghod alone knows when/if this is going to happen. Considering how long it took Amazon to release a larger screen device, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting ( purple is so not my colour ). Last edited by DNSB; 10-09-2018 at 04:18 PM. |
