No. The Aura (Edition 2) first came out in September, 2016. So it's two years old. The original Aura came out in 2013, so it's now five years old — but it's not the one Walmart is selling. From the Kobo Wiki ... Quote:

If you shop regularly at Walmart an account has other benefits than being linkable to Kobo. Scan your receipt with the app and it automatically price matches with other stores in the area. Using Vudu with Walmart account and scanning a receipt with a purchased movie will add a digital copy to the Vudu account (on the ones that say Vudu on them). In the case of DVDs that have Vudu and UV digital copies oftentimes you get an HD upgrade for free. Scanning the receipt will add the SD version to Vudu often still allowing the UV version to be redeemed on top of that. Individually they each would be SD only, stacked they go to HD.

I saw at the Walmart in my area had space set up for Walmart e books and a display that could hold two devices. It also said Kobo Aura 2 for $99 and a Samsung for $189. I have no idea what that's about ? Only the signs for the devices were there .

Well, old or not I like my 99$ Aura edition 2 its a birthday(today) gift to myself. I would have bought the Clara if it was at the store. I have no patience for mail ordering. I go the leather case for it today and love it. I love how thin it is even with the case

(Off soap box now.) I'm glad you like the Aura. Once I divest myself of some of my older eReaders, I think I'm going to try a newer, front-lit one again (maybe the Aura or Clara (or Glo HD) or even the Nook Glowlight 3 or Kindle Voyage). I've got to believe I can somehow overcome the "floating font" issue my eyes seem to have them. The Tolino Page with its low resolution E-Carta display shows me that the E-Carta screens are definitely a big step up from the Pearl ones. Last edited by rcentros; 09-04-2018 at 08:12 PM. | ||

I'm glad you like your Kobo. I like my OLD Kobos, Sonys, Kindles, Nooks, EZ-Reader, Jetbooks, Tolino and ... I guess that's about it. Fortunately no one is forcing me to pick one (and only one). I can like them all.

Thats a bizzare way to look at it. The Aura One is also two years old and both have comfort pro light, the Aura One has a 7.8 in screen as well as a flash bezel. The Amazon Oasis doesn't have a comfort light and smaller screen. So i really don't see how any of todays 2 year old ereaders are behind the times. Lol Ereader tech has pretty much remianed the same for years. The only thing is a bit better resolutions, comfort light l, and water proofing.

Yeah, the only currently sold ereader that's really old specs-wise is the basic Kindle.

Sure the resolution on the Aura is a bit lower but it's far from inferior to newer 6" ereaders. 300 was in most ereaders 2 years ago. But the difference between 212 and 300 is small. Still the Aura is a very capable reader and the Aura One is better than Kindle Imo. Perhaps another Kobo will come out soon.
