Chapters Indigo.ca shipping to USA $30

I have finally decided to purchase a Kobo Aura One. I thought the shipping charges were about $16 when I checked before on Chapters. Today the charge was a little over $30 (Florida).

Is this a glitch in the system or did they raise the shipping charges?

With the $30 CAD shipping fee, it is $20 USD cheaper ordering from Canada. If the shipping was still $16 CAD, it would be $30 USD cheaper. At $30 savings, I would probably order from Canada but it might be worth $20 to buy from the USA site.

PS I have not purchased from either site.

PPS My Visa card does not have any extra foreign currency charges.

Customer support at Chapters is top-notch as well, I've ordered from them 3 times now. I'd do the math before deciding. Right now the exchange rate is .75, and don't forget Chapters won't add any taxes. Chapters will probably still be cheaper than ordering from Kobo.

I know a lot of people will be ordering the new H2O soon, so I thought I would give my current experience with Chapters. (I bought from them once before, when I bought my Glo HD).

Yes the shipping is $30, that is for Priority Mail International. I ordered on May 3. I received a shipment confirmation email with tracking number on May 4. On May 5 I was able to see it in the system. It has been or is being transferred to the USPS. Delivery is expected May 10. Signature required.

My credit card charged was 151, plus a foreign transaction fee of $4 FYI (AMEX).

I will update when my item is received.

As of 05/07, the package has come and gone through New York, and is on the way to PA.

Update, they checked it in and out of the Pittsburgh facility this morning (the 9th) so it will arrive tomorrow (the 10th).

Expected delivery is now May 9.

ETA 5/9/17: It appears to still be in New York, in customs.

05/09/17 - It is here! I happened to be at the post office dropping off 2 Kobos that I sold, and it had just arrived. It was actually sent via Express mail, so if I hadn't been there, the mail man would have come back to the PO to get it and deliver it today.

I got my KA1 recently from Chapters (CA), I was just as surprised at the shipping charges. The shipping and handling cost me $31.64. I did my math and it is still more affordable for me to purchase from CA as compared to US.

Paid $281.63 for my KA1 excluding my international shipping charges.
