ADE expiration date - where can I find it in the epub

I'm looking for a way to view the ADE expiration date of an EPUB in the EPUB itself. Afaik the only unencrypted files in a protected EPUB are: mimetype content.opf and some files in \META-INF\ but not encryption.xml and rights.xml Is there a metadata tag somewhere containing the expiration date? surely you just launch ADE - when I do that I see my current library loan epub books as thumbnails with a days-remaining slash banner superimposed on each this is using the library view of all that's in the ADE local folder. it changes to say "expired", if I've not returned & deleted before then |

I wasn't probably clear enough. I was searching those infos in the EPUB itself not in ADE. To avoid further confusion I changed the first post accordingly. |

technically you can't search the (original) epubs, they are encrypted. if you search them post DRM removal, you can't know for sure what else may have been removed / altered. but best leave it there, this is not a forum for discussion of DRM mechanics FYI My digital editions/manifest - has an xml per book with date & time therein. if may be in other locations also. I would guess that the manifest data feeds the library view screen. e.g. for one of my current loans, the matching xml contains <expirationTime xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/digitaleditions">2017-03-07T19:27:14Z</expirationTime> Last edited by stumped; 03-03-2017 at 08:20 AM. |

First, let me clarify: I'm not attempting to discuss DRM removal here. I'm trying to collect infos I'm supposed to have (my expiration date), to show them on my devices. Second: No the epub is not encrypted, it is rather a container for some encrypted files and some not encrypted files. |

so you are saying that if still had my old sony reader and I put a library loan onto it, I would not see the expiry date on the reader? ( I don't have one now so I cannot test & cannot remember - hence the question) or likewise with the latest Kobo if I were to buy one and master the simple? steps to get a loaned book onto that ? | |

The epub is not encrypted. Some of the files inside the .zip container are encrypted. In this case, opening a random selection of encrypted epubs with 7Zip and extracting the rights.xml showed none of instances were encrypted.

Hmmm... my library books borrowed on device using Overdrive show an "Expires in x days". I seem to remember that library books transferred via ADE showed the same.
