I'm using the CX version on my iPhone 6. Also, your iPad screen shot does not show ADE page numbers.

Agree. I find the headers/footers distracting as well. However, if you decrease the size of the top/bottom margin, the header/footers disappear. However, that leaves pretty narrow margins. I'd like to be able turn off headers/footers without shrinking the margins so much.

I don't think MapleRead does ADE page numbers.

Just curious, what really makes the book title distracting for you? Font-family, font-size (relative to your chosen text font size)? For me, I prefer a small title size vs. text size, which is the status quo, as I read in size 24px or larger on my iPad. Perhaps you read in smaller font size?

I see. You read with a text font size very similar to the header font size, but I read with one much larger. Perhaps that's why you feel the header distracting, while I don't.

By the way, when you pinch and spread (with two fingers) to change font size, you'll see the current font size in px.

Moreover, you text font family is set to Palatino. The header/footer font is also Palatino (at least to my eyes). In addition, the line spacing chosen is also very close to the spacing between the header and the first text. Your choice of text layout settings is very different from mine. Perhaps you may try other settings to see if the layout looks more pleasing to your eyes. Having said that, I'm also for a new option to turn on/off header and footer without any other side effect.

Turn on Diagnostics in System Settings to see it. You should then see something like "Change body font size (px) from 20 to 30?" when you pinch and spread.

Looks awful. I'd like to do away with the header and keep the footer. Plus, the footer has enough space to show ADE page numbers, screens until the next chapter & % read so unless you forget the name of the book you are reading, there's no need for a header.

The problem as I see it is there currently is no program for iOS to display ePub in a logical way or give users options as they may want.

Would it be possible to add in ADE page numbers? They are extremely important to finding where I left off when moving from MapleReader to my Kobo Aura H2O that uses ADE. I would think ADE page numbers would be of interested to others as well.

Is it possible to add in my choice of fonts? If not, can that also be added in?

@cedhax, thank you for joining the discussion on this issue and your constructive suggestion. You have a sharp eye. The header/footer font is indeed Palatino.

Yes, in the next version of MapleRead, we're going to have new options to let you show/hide header and footer independently without any other side effect.

The first screenshot below is GERGE's original image. The second image is how it will look like without the header.

The third image is how the default (publisher's) layout looks like on MapleRead 1.6.3 with a sample book (AAIW), where the strings at the four corners represent the book title, % into book, chapter title, and page 3 out of 6 of that chapter respectively.

If I remember correctly, you are the first MapleRead user who requests support of ADE page numbering. I agree that you have a good usage case. Anyone else wants this feature too?

As for the request of providing more fonts in text/heading font menu, can you list them?

I agree with JSWolf. I would love to see ADE page numbers in MapleRead. Thank you!

I always use ADE pages in academic writing (obviously). They are necessary.
