I have PW-1 devices, but I don't think any of them are running 5.6.1.1 THAT firmware provides a "Conservative" governor (like the K5 firmware does). When you ran that report, the Kindle was running under the Powersave governor (which locks it to minimum clock speed). If you wanted, you could edit one of the buttons (menu.json) from whatever it is now to: 'conservative' and try that. On my K5 - that extends the battery run-time while still giving quick response. |

			Hi!

I accidentally hit 'powersave' on my Kindle Touch, and it got very slow. Moreover, I was unable even to launch KUAL, it was saying me two different messages. Something like the app could not be launched, and contact Amazon support for help (sure, Amazon, can you please help me to run KUAL? )Then I just restarted Kindle from Settings. About conservative, it works normal. I added to KUAL extension, so now I have 4 button for CPU control. Most of the times, when I press something, the 'pressed button' icon (inverted colors) does not appear (for example, I use KOReader button that replaced Shop on the Search Bar), although the app is being launched as expected. |

You can find out what governor your running (and the statistics of the high/low speed transitions) from the cpu report. You may not have noticed, but the report changes with the governor running - since the various governors report different things. It should be possible to read the report on the Kindle - Just be sure you have the 'all items' or 'local items' or whatever your firmware version calls it that is required to view personal documents. |

Hello, I am including my PW3 info from 5.6.5

I might also soon update to 5.7.4.1, in which case I will provide a report from that version as well. Thank you. |

In my PW3 page turn delay in KOReader is totally acceptable in the Powersave governor. In the default On Demand gov., active drain is 0.89%/h(airplane mode, frontlight disabled) and idle drain is 0.04-0.05%/h.

I was expecting some improvement but this is incredible. So far the display has been in use for 2h 37mins and yet to drop by a single percentage!

Edit: Screen on drain was a measly 0.3%/h but idle drain inexplicably increased to 0.28%/h. Let's see how it goes. Edit2: The stats were wrong for some reason. After a reboot there was hardly any difference between powersave and on-demand gov. Last edited by atonement; 09-11-2021 at 10:35 AM. |

			Hi @johnd0e,

thank you so much for your response. I have made changes to set-governor.sh as suggested by you, but still it freezes. I am not even able to generate the cpu report. As soon as I click report or powersave option, I am out of Kual and then it just freeze. I have even tried this while charger connected, still it's the same. could you please share the extension which is working for you? I am using extension version 1.3 Last edited by dnmmx; 09-17-2021 at 02:40 AM. |
