After all was discussed about liquavista where does this new reader leave it?

Maybe we can come back in 2 years and do the same thing all over again

I'd prefer buttons on both sides, but that would be an acceptable compromise.

If this is real (I'm still holding out hope), then Amazon has hit on what is probably THE thing that will make me not want it. I know I'm weird, but asymmetrical things drive me crazy. Even if it had a bigger and/or better screen, I wouldn't want it in this form. For me, the biggest improvement between the Kobo Aura HD and the Kobo Aura H2O was the return to a (mostly) symmetrical back, not the waterproofing. I always use sleeves for my devices because the book-style covers make them awkward and lopsided to hold. I often switch hands while reading. With this, I would have to stop reading and flip it.

I also don't see this as "top of the line" over the Voyage. The only thing premium is that leather charging cover. And I would rather that be a separate optional add-on, rather than included in the cost of the device.

Ah, well, I'll save my money for more ebooks. One less person competing for pre-orders for those who do want this.

In the articles they show it being held in either hand and it definitely appears to just flip. The only thing that could slightly bother someone is that, when in the case, the Amazon logo would be upside down when flipped for left-handed reading.

Have to say I agree. That thing is flat out ugly. As much as I like page turn buttons, I would rather have a device that looks halfway decent.

I don't care how it looks, but I do care how it works, and auto-rotate just won't work for me. I lie on me side to read in bed, and if I have a device that auto rotates it is constantly flipping. I also roll from one side to the other while I'm reading, so I need to be able to change pages from either side.

All of that being said, I'm hoping that there is more to the new device than we are seeing, because I would love real page turn buttons again!

But your only going to notice the wedge from behind,I don't know about you but I tend to read my kindles from the front and not the back.

The voyage looks better in comparison but I guess the in-hand feel of this device will be better,70g lighter is quite an accomplishment,this design seems to be function over form with the button placement.

Some are speculating this might be the paperwhites replacement and not the voyages ,although that seems more like desperate hope

Amazon has a lefty kit with the Amazon logo. Just peel it off the sheet and stick it over the embossed logo for a professional looking fit.

Well if the technology ends up being completely useless for what Amazon would want to achieve then they would try to sell it on again or just close the sub division down.

As long as eink has motion capability in their next screen tech,a.k.a regal 2 along with I.mx7 it should be able to do what liquavista can albeit without colour.

I don't think this Oasis kindle comes with either as it doesn't mention improved screen refresh rates anywhere on the leak ,that is my biggest disappointment about all this ,along with no bump in screen size,not even to 6.8"

Or the leak isn't a leak but a fabrication to get our hopes up since Jeff said next week not next Monday.

Think I will wait for the official announcement which will probably be Wednesday at around 3 pm.
Or maybe Friday since that is a payday for many folks.

Since it looks like there is an electrical connection between the device and the cover, this makes the possibility for additional covers interesting.

Maybe a wireless recharger cover (induction?).

Maybe a power bank cover (battery that can be used to recharge other devices, after all, it you're already carrying around the ereader...).

Although I been pretty happy with my Voyage, I haven't really had a totally comfortable hold on a kindle since the K1. And of course that one was a wedge design. Best ergo for my hands ever. I also loved the big buttons, but oh well. As someone that reads for hours and reads a lot and then some, I get cramps, even on my Voyage. The haptic buttons as I have to hold the device are ok, but still give me cramps as its still hard to hold with one hand. Balance not quite right for me. So I often have to lean it on something. knee, other arm, pillow.

So another wedge design, especially a device this light its really getting my interest.

And as far as the battery thing? I always said that for me the ideal was if I never ever had to worry about battery ever again. I have a hard time not checking the battery on my kindles all the time. I read a lot as I said and I have to charge it every 3 days or so. Depends on. So when I get on the lower end, I waffle over when to plug it in and where. So again, this also excite me.

So even without a solar cover, if descriptions are right, this could get me some sqeee worthy battery life together. I might actually for once get the 2 months battery life that is always written.

And I could read for hours and hours and hours and hours and never having to check battery.
