This changes happened somewhere when 5.6.x got introduced. Thought this is a general "wanted" behaviour from Amazon.

@Axanar: Turn off "Word wise" feature and the % will go back to bottom right.

Interesting, I never used word wise on mine and I kind of like having both items on the left. But for me it always shows word wise on the right. Unlike the picture posted where it doesn't.

On a PW3, it's been the other way around. The fonts were darker before the update.

I don't get it. Those two devices are supposed to have the same display, so you'd think the update would have the same effect on both. Or.. it is only happening on the two specific devices I have seen and is not representative at all of how the fonts changed throught the update.

It's weird, that's for sure.

What on Earth possessed them to remove the key borders? It looks horrible- not to mention how much of an accessibility disaster it is.

Amazon has changed the location of the percent and page status at the bottom of opened books a couple of operating systems versions ago. Rather than having percent on the right and page on the left, it shows percent on the left and page number on the left - separated by a "-" symbol.

The difference between "old" and "new" helvetica is, that Amazon has removed the boldness of the font, making it harder to read if you choose the smallest font, smallest margin and smallest linespacing.

To clarify, my Voyage has the newest update and did when I took that picture.

Shame to see the Voyage still has the two toned screen issue with top half appearing different color to bottom half. I really hope amazon fixes this issue with the voyage 2.

It looks much, much worse in picture than it does in person. I almost never notice the color gradient when reading or when even trying to look for it. It's also not a screen issue but just that the light (which is coming from the bottom) isn't uniformly lighting up the kindle. I'm excited for the Voyage 2 but if that's the only thing that will be updated, I'll see no reason to upgrade.

Supposedly it's already been fixed with a change to the front light.

I would also buy a new Voyage (if a Voyage 2 ever gets released) but I wouldn't trust Amazon's word or advertising. I'd want to see one in person and buy from a high street retailer.

I find the new keyboard much more responsive. On the previous one I often had to tap a key two or three times to get a response, now it's nearly always responsive on the first press.

An interesting change I noticed on the new 5.7.2.

If I generate an AZW3 in Calibre with the Option to Enable Sharing of Book Content, and sideload the book directly, (ie. copy the file into the folder myself, rather than send to device through the Calibre Driver.), the Kindle now generates it's own cover thumbnail, instead of using the blank "Personal Document" placeholder. I forget exactly what that option does to the distinguish the book as a personal document rather than an Amazon book, but this might the the solution to people who noticed that their sideloaded covers are getting overwritten by Amazon.

But apparently, in fw5.7.2, Kindles no longer uses the highly irritating "Personal" banner on the bottom, the avoidance of which is the main reason for embedding a fake ASIN.

I've never gotten a personal AZW3 document to generate a thumbnail. I've tried with 3 different books on my PW3 today while testing the above post. Works perfectly on the 5.7.2 PW2, but empty square on the older firmware. (I thought the fake ASIN was so synching on multiple devices magically worked.)

Traditionally, anything that had the "Personal" banner at the bottom would also generate a thumbnail from the embedded cover.

I never used fake ASIN syncing but I thought it broke at some point???

Fake ASIN sync between two Kindle eReaders works only for old mobi format, for azw3/kf8 you get an error. Also you can't sync even sideloaded "old mobi" between Kindle eReader and Kindle for Android because Android app doesn't show sync button if the book is not added/archived to you PDOCs Cloud archive. Valid ASIN or fake ASIN doesn't make a difference, as long as you don't have that ASIN associated with your Amazon account there will be no sync option/button in Android app.
