TTS works pretty well in the Kindle app on my HD6 and Fire phone. Has anyone used it on the new Fire 7?

All the Fire's have it and those older Eink Kindles which have audio (Keyboard, Touch) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PH9NW0E/ (since it is open in another tab) Text-to-Speech: Enabled (author/publisher option to disable).

Thanks, I didn't realized that the fire had TTS feature. Also, I am wondering if anyone else has an issue of not being able to safely eject their fire when connected to the computer.

This is where the new Fire 7" fits in reference to its display resolution - at the bottom: Amazon Fire Resolution

The Fire isn't being treated as a thumb drive but as a multi-media box and apparently just unplugging is fine.

Horrible stepback. I just don't get what they are doing. I'm looking into other tablets now.

It's perfectly fine for what I paid: $35. Edit: I should note that it's not my primary tablet, not by a long shot. That distinction belongs to a iPad mini. But this slots in as a secondary device that I use where and when I don't wish to carry the Mini with me. Last edited by Shane R; 12-11-2015 at 11:35 AM. |

Wow....last night my girls informed me that Amazon's premium earbuds don't work on this Fire! I tried it myself....nope! How ridiculous is that?

It should work. Try plugging in firmly, unplugging, several times in succession. There might be a little oxide or whatever preventing a clean electrical contact.

How can that be? You mean the controls or you get no sound?

Maybe it didn't go in far enough....other earbuds work. I'll have to try it again. Ok, had to really push on it to get it in all the way. It's working now! *sigh* it was the headphones. I guess my daughter broke them. Last edited by booklover6; 12-12-2015 at 06:16 PM. |

My Fire 7" arrived yesterday. As soon as I switched it on it warned me that the very latest software update (Fire OS 5.11) would occur I fully charged it and entered the Wi-Fi password only later (after Midnight.) 500 MB download (my Broadband connection is only Unlimited 2400-0800). First question, how do I search the Cloud / MyStuff for books ? There is a display of all books I own, but a search goes to the Kindle Store. Nothing in Help of course. |
